1. A spooky Halloween-themed photo of three ceramic ghosts in the window of a pottery shop along Mission Street in San Francisco, CA. Each ghost is uniquely glazed with white dripping ooze and very textured natural underglaze colors. Two of the adorably spooky ghosts are lit from within but they all have this “boooooo” face so nicely designed that you can almost hear them moaning through the image frame. There is a lovely blurred bokeh in the background and the reflections off the storefront window is creating some lovely lens flares on the photo edges. Happy Halloween! 👻

1. A disorienting photo of a sculpture that looks like a barren tree in front of a bank of windows. But on second look something is wrong with the image. The tree is floating and tethered to the ground by cables, and there are people upside down walking on the ceiling. Then you realize the entire scene is a mirror image and the tree is actually an art piece suspended from the ceiling by cables, hanging down overhead while worked walk far below. Taken at the new San Francisco International Harvey Milk Terminal.

1. Dramatic photo of an old shipwrecked boat on the shoreline, taken in Inverness, CA. The brilliant, clear blue skies highlight the colorful weathered old wood on the medium-sized fishing trawler craft labeled Point Reyes, along with the sandbar that it sits on in the bay. Clearly the boat has been there for a while and you can see holes in the sides as Mother Nature slowly reclaims the ship (I think there was a recent fire as well which helped). The coolest thing about this is that it’s not hard to find either. Do a search for Point Reyes Shipwreck just north of San Francisco, you’ll find it’s not far off the main road. Makes a fun excursion if you’re in the area!
