skibidi toilet is a haunting yet beautiful precis of the future. the titular creatures are degenerate, trans-human things, comprised of sleek porcelain ensconcing human flesh stripped down to the minimum necessary for looking human: the skull and neck. Deprived of all language except for the first few bars of a remix of a turkish pop song, the skibidi toilets have a quasi-human existence in a thriving, skyscraper filled city, their needs presumably taken care off by their wax-ring connection. Yet all is not well; trans-human tho' they may be, their abilities are no match for those of the posthuman cameramen and their kith and kin, the CRT and speakermen, who easily wipe out the flesh-bound skibidis, waging a brutal war of conquest in post-acceleration earth. These creatures are mute, seeming to only communicate with emoji, gestures and the occasional guttural moanings of the larger specimens.

until we get an universal covid vaccine these variants are just gonna drop like fortnite seasons, and since no one takes this shit seriously the entire planet is gonna seroconvert
because of natural reservoirs a NPI (masking, isolation etc) covid-zero approach is unlikely to work for long (if that was even a serious possibility after the end of 2020) so we're heading towards a 1918 H1N1 scenario.
SPEAKING OF FLU there's been an especially bad avian flu season with some human cases as well, and while there isn't human to human transmission yet it's only a matter of time as we play ribonucleic roulette.
And let's not forget the antibiotic resistance and the fungal uprhizing.

so as a DIY submersible fan I've been following this titan thing more than the usual newsbite of the day.
the likeliest scenario is catastrophic hull failure due to fatigue in the carbon fibre, in which case the mighty pressure of the depths would have crushed them instantly
if that's the case, the searchers would probably have been informed by the US Navy of a loud bang showing up on sonar surveillance at the approximate time and place of the dive, and all the while they're just trying to find the wreckage bc they know such a scenario would've been immediately fatal
second most likely scenario (which has apparently happened before) is some sort of severe mechanical/electronic failure, which at the least terrifying would leave them on the surface, unable to call for help, stuck in a sealed carbon fibre tube and at the worst would mean drifting several km down
the distal cause of all this is the complete disregard of competent engineering practices and common sense. the risks of using carbon fibre and non-spherical pressure vessels in such applications is well known, and the additional complexity of the end caps didn't help. not getting classed is one thing, but the sheer amount of disregard for reasonable procedures and design (bolting the hatch to the hull given the need for speedy egress stands out) more or less made something like this inevitable -
