@kaia I think I was like 15 years old and I thought it was funny.

I’m now 27 and I kinda cringe at my nickname but I also think it’s too much effort to rebrand my online persona at this point.

Yeah SuperDicq back on the CDROM like the good old times.

@parappanon @ryo @wrongthink From my experience MySQL/MariaDB is a lot smarter when it comes to caching and optimalization. From my experience with Postgresql it always needs constant maintenance like vacuum jobs and tweaking settings to keep it running, MySQL/MariaDB does a lot of these things automatically.

@wrongthink @ryo Nope, Pleroma/Akkoma has a hard dependency on Postgresql.

I’m personally more of a MySQL/MariaDB/Percona fan as well and would use that if it was possible.

Today at 18:00 expect some downtime. I’ll be upgrading cdrom to Akkoma.

@alex Nope. I just kept restarting the instance until one day it magically went away.

Looks like cdrom.tokyo got hit by a spam bot this morning. I will try to resolve this as soon as possible.

Because of the high volume of spam I will have to remove all user accounts and posts created between 22:30 and 05:30 UTC last night.

I’m very sorry if you’ve made any legitimate non-spam posts during this timeframe. It’s unfeasible for me to manually sort this all.

@freeschool What I did was simply run a query to delete all posts and accounts with the given timeframe as creation date. So, yes, technically just a rollback.

@freeschool I hard to estimate the running cost of my fediverse instances.

I host them at home on my server that also runs a lot of other things that are for me personally and for my business. So I can’t just say my server’s power consumption is the cost of running my instance.

My internet bill is the same answer. I can’t reasonably estimate how much % of my bandwidth is fediverse.

@freeschool If you have physical access to your hardware it’s not that hard to create large RAID arrays with cheap hard drives and never worry about storage space again.

If you rent a server storage space often comes at a premium.
