@sun@condret There’s that Ripple thing that @jeffcliff likes. But I think that’s centralised. This paper may interest you. I’m not an expert on this stuff. I’m just providing links so you can DYOR.
@ryanc I mean, it's already legal to identify however you want. Recognition by the government is another thing. I don't know why you seem to want it to be made "official". Reminds me of my friend's trans girlfriend who once said to me that it should be illegal to call them "he" because "that's how I'm legally recognised" and comparing it to calling a doctor "Dr" (never mind that it's not illegal to call a doctor by a different title lmao). At least, IIRC that's what she said.
@akkartik I think it's true that Hillary was always going to have a hard time of it. As Kevin Drum put it, she was in fact an unusually honest politician, but the way she retained her honesty was by giving guarded rather than unqualified-and-therefore-imperfectly-accurate statements. 3/
@akkartik (Biden was accused of "hiding in his basement" in 2020, doing podcasts — PODCASTS — but not getting out during the pandemic. But when he interacted, he was scrappy, not scripted.) 2/
@jeffcliff Have you considered making an account on one of those middle-ground servers where you can speak your mind but still can talk to instances that you otherwise couldn’t, and also change your behaviour to be less violently aggressive (this is important so you don’t get banned from the server or get your server defederated from all over again)?
@jeffcliff the thing is that most people would rather not communicate with people with aggressive communication styles and the sooner you learn that, the sooner you will be able to communicate with a wider range of people than just the assholes here
@sun@jeffcliff I remember seeing that clip posted on fediverse when he first joined and was baffled by why loads of people kept posting vitriol at him for it because it seemed like he was just describing what had happened to him, not promoting it in any way.
