@phiofx we do, but I do also wonder about moving the work closer to the energy and what things we can do that are higher value than storage.

When I look at all that curtailment and think about how we really need to find a way to store or even better find a good use for all that extra electricity. Produce hydrogen to burn later, store in a battery, move water up a mountain, bake all the things, make fertiliser. #windpunk #solarpunk

@BethanyBlack is it more annoying when a nobody on here plagiarises you or when a paid writer on cable TV does? (not that either will be great)

@MediaActivist true, but you can run an online only event without needing anyone but attendees and possibly someone willing to speak (if that is the format).

I got lucky that my (former) local group tech group went that way. Means less organising for me. They are really good at it too

@MediaActivist in the before times, when I actively organised tech groups if anyone complained about something I made them an "organiser".

What they didn't know was the only thing that made someone an organiser was organising a thing.

The only things were the topic had to fit the name of the group and we had to follow the code of conduct.

@MediaActivist kolektiva and cakckey are both activitypub systems. Neither has end to end encryption so your data will be available to other people in the chain, though that will depend a bit on how it is set up.

@MediaActivist I am not an expert in either other than to know that you should rely on other systems like signal or cwtch for secure comms

I've also worked on legacy systems that no one understands any more and there is no spec other than the live system. I think relying too much on something that people don't want to work in any more is a false economy. The TSB system before the migration was failing as well and they couldn't get anyone to fix it
