@Alphakilopapa I think this song makes more sense than the average chili peppers song.
I have always assumed that nobody actually likes that band, but people think it would be cool if they did. They are the ultimate also-ran that everyone recognizes and nobody really hates, so they stay on the radio.
I’ve never met anyone who said that the Red Hot Chili Peppers were their favorite band.
Make sure you spend as much of it as you can arguing about the details of things you have no influence over with other people who also have no influence over them!
Either that, or do something you find meaning in, make things, help others, live the life that the Lord has put in front of you!
My daughter (2) was inspecting her brother’s models and asked if she could paint them. I told her “No we only paint models that are ours, not brothers.”
She responded: with “Daddy! Please you print me guys a-paint?”
So here is her bear (it should eat less than a pony). And some heavy intercessors proxies for me and the oldest boy.
(Having four children with a fifth due in a few weeks, family events for the holiday, running 3 printers to print stuff for said kids, and my build standards being perfect++) these took longer than I expected.
There are good Non-GW 3D designs, but not that many.
I agree they generally aren’t as good as GW, but that’s because they are made by 1 or 2 artist and not teams of people doing concept and creation work, like GW has.
Also the others usually read as imitation and not iteration or improvement.
I don’t generally go for the pirated stuff. I’ll print proxies, but I give GW my money for the IP that I dig.
I would recommend resin printing for gaming models, but I use FDM for terrain or larger models all the time, they do require some sanding and work to get them smooth enough though.
I’d check out Printed Obsession for pop culture / nerd culture stuff for larger models to FDM print and paint if that’s what i was up to.
Here’s an example of something that I FDM printed and painted with my daughter:
You don’t have to buy GW paint. Use Craft paint until the paint is holding you back. I painted my first minis with craft paint and I still use Craft paint for bases and terrain and other places where I don’t need expensive paint.
I rarely use GW paint anyway, as I like Pro Acryl from Monument hobbies better, but I’ve used Army Painter and Vallejo ALOT too.
When following a guide don’t get hung up on exact color. Pick something close and paint.
Yes, Overture matte PLA, printed at 0.12 layer height. Did these on an FLSun Super racer but any printer should work.
Paint job was super simple, primed dark grey, dry brushed light tan, then used very thinned down acrylic inks for the color. Took probably 20-30 minutes to paint inside and out.
Model is from the City of Firwood from STL miniatures on MyMiniFactory.com @Marbo
