They follow the three generation rule. The first founders were entrepreneurs, by the third generation it will all be shit, relying on monopoly, acquisition, and government protection.

At the moment, I'm still a firm believer that penicillin saved many, many lives. The chain of events from fungal citric acid to large-scale penicillin manufacturing is very interesting.

The fact that Currie joined Pfizer during World War I was no coincidence. Pfizer officials, led by John Anderson, realized that the company had to reduce its vulnerability as an importer of raw materials. The war cut off the supply of Italian citrus, and all raw material deliveries from Europe were threatened by the German submarine blockade. Supplying medicines and chemicals for the war helped the company survive, but overall sales declined. Now, more than ever, Pfizer needed to find ways to produce citric acid without using citrus.

But knocking off the cowardly obedient ones who would happily own nothing and eat bugs is counterproductive.

It's one thing to trust the government (which is a dumb idea), but quite another to trust Big Pharma, Holy hell, with a track record of murder, maiming and lies.

There are lots of substackers who analyze that. Let me see if I can remember some of them. I know @LaylaAlexandrovna keeps track of some of them.

Does anyone else like Evernote's business model of paying a monthly fee so they can remove more and more features and make you pay for them in higher tiers? Seems like our descendants will mock the stupidity of the 21st century and the Age of the Human Moron.
