Netanyahu just got a platform from Murdoch to attack Biden.

It’s not unprecedented for foreign leaders to write op-eds in US papers. But the level of engagement from Netanyahu w/ US press has no equal. MSNBC had him on a year ago to defend Trump. Now he’s fighting Dems via WSJ.

Aponte suddenly understood…it was all “a way [for the ‘heterodox’] to forcefully apply their moral and cultural ideas”: “It’s a moral authoritarianism centrally informing what the state would be. It all flows from there.”

If you consider yourself a progressive, many of America’s elite and financial class now hate you* because they hear hateful messages from Murdoch. Today’s Ed board piece, smearing progressives and smearing climate progress.

*It has been notable how finance circles have started to spit on “progressive” over the last few years.

We will not fix our democracy until we start doing criminal prosecutions of the wealthy again. Not just weakly using DPAs and fines
and prosecutions of corporations.

Musk and the hospital execs in the news today must face threats of *jail*.

No fine will ever break a billionaire— they just pay out some funds and move on. But criminal charges can take down their lifestyle and hold them truly accountable.

Chris Rufo is popping champagne right now. His donors are too. Paul Singer, who runs Manhattan Inst, which pays Rufo, is celebrating. He wins. This is a huge victory for American neofascism.

And this victory was handed to Rufo by the New York Times, now a fully complicit player in ending US democracy. /2

And Joe Kahn, Katie Kingsbury and Patrick Healy were the ones who did it. Kahn the exec editor, Kingsbury the Opinion editor, Healy the deputy Opinion editor.

Every person at NYT knows Rufo is lying. He does not care about liberal education.
He admits lying. He does more than admit it, he brags about it.

Why publish lies? Why give him space to lie? Joe Kahn, you're embarassing yourself. This is what our elites produce? You'll defend this?

Look, I try to be measured. But this is a five-alarm fire for US democracy. This is like publishing Goebbels in 1934.

This is as bad as publishing Tom Cotton, and the Opinion editors should lose their jobs for it.

NYT has ten million subscribers, and approximately 9.99 million do not have time to read media criticism in depth. /1

For those saying “these 10X numbers are just estimates!”, well, they look pretty good to me, and Elon Musk is welcome to disclose the real numbers whenever he wants.

Decades ago, we had a DOJ that filed criminal charges against corporate executives that did crimes.

Today, our cowed, stuck-on-bad-process DOJ merely negotiates ineffective fines with their companies (through deferred prosecution agreements.)

We need to reform DOJ so that we prosecute white collar crime again.
As has been said many times, the two books by Jesse Eisinger and @jentaub are guides to what has gone wrong and how to fix it.

He was the biggest donor to the Republican Senate PAC.

Singer is absolutely at the CENTER of today’s Republican Party.
