@mickymorse@GottaLaff If Biden had stumbled and fumbled getting into a garbage truck it would have been the headline for #wapo and #nyt and a source of punditry for the next week.
@aburtch@mjj@GottaLaff@davidaugust People make the mistake of thinking of what Trump does as incoherent rambling. It's really more like stream-of-consciousness riffing. He's got themes in his head and he embroiders them and mixes them up, but one of his themes is that he is going to completely take over government in a way that can't be undone, and he says it in dozens of different ways. Ignore the nonsense words - listen to the themes. Because he has consistently acted on his themes.
@paul@GottaLaff I love nitter. I also found something to redirect Twitter->Nitter on my phone, although it chooses a random instance and sometimes I have to do it a few times to find one that's up. But worth it to take one pair of eyes from MusX.
The problem with talking about white privilege is simply that it makes the poor white person think they're on the same team as Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk. I believe talking more about class and less about race would be more effective in creating policies that favor the majority over the wealthy elite, but I don't expect to see that anytime soon.
I think everyone should read this @tkanefield piece on what's going on in the Trump trial, simply because if he's *not* convicted then instead of freaking out and raging you'll say, "oh yeah, that was a distinct possibility. Kinda sucks, but I get why."
She's not saying he *won't* be convicted (she says the odds are that he probably will) but she explains why it's not the slam dunk some people think it is.
Also, law is kinda interesting if it's explained well.
@Porpentina2017 If Obama had stolen classified documents, stuck them in the bathroom, and refused to give them back, Republicans would be demanding the death penalty. No exaggeration: they would literally call it treason and unquestionably demand his execution.
@AnarchoNinaWrites NYTimes: Trump beat a baby to death with a rock on national television. Will that be too much for Republican moderates? NYTimes, next day: Susan Collins says she has reliable information that baby deserved it. House claims Biden has beaten far more babies to death than Trump. Mitch McConnell says, "it's time for the nation to move past this infanticide nonsense."
It's so weird when journalists talk about "moderate" Republicans. It's as though terrorists took control of the Super Bowl and one terrorist said "we're going to kill all the hostages" and the other said "we're going to kill all the hostages except children" and journalists started calling the second one "the moderate."
@anarchopunk_girl@obsolescentsapien@drazraeltod@pluralistic This is true in some cases. The shocking thing is how often it is not true, and apps simply offer a truncated version of their website, removing chunks of functionality (also true of mobile versions of some sites).
Also, they take up *tons* of space. I only have room for so many. Why not just make better mobile sites and improve everyone's life?
