@lawyersgunsnmoney Not knowing who they have added to the chat takes the cake, I believe.

I have done military IT contracting. I have held a security clearance. This violates EVERYTHING you are supposed to do with ANY knowledge that could possibly be considered sensitive, let alone classified.

I once called out a Captain for walking through a doorway into a secure hall with his personal phone in his back pocket. He apologized & ran out of the zone to secure the phone.

@lawyersgunsnmoney I'm sitting here thinking back to my work for [redacted] & my mind is *reeling* at how much information has to have been removed from the secure environment & placed into not merely the ordinary "secure" side, but moved into their *personal*, utterly unsecured locations/environments.

I see posts here (& elsewhere) that talk about rallying, opposing, coming back, fighting, voting the bastards out. Got news for ya, homie. Those actions take place within a relatively stable set of institutions backed by a moderately uncorrupt legal system.

They whinge on about how *if only* the Democrats had *fought* for things we believe in, we woulda/coulda/shoulda won.

Nope. Millions of ordinary white folks sat on their hands, trying to keep them clean, & have let the fascists seize all.

Let's have a little thought experiment, shall we?

Within the first few days of his regime, Trump declares that he is suspending the Constitution for the safety of the nation.

    No legislature
    No courts
    No bureaucracy
    No rights

This is immediately challenged, perhaps even by a few GOP in Congress, & it goes through the courts. We get to the Supremes. They opine that while Trump can't *change* the Constitution, he can *suspend* it & reconstitute the government as he sees fit.

The Supreme Court then dissolves itself & the judiciary, saying that they have no authority anymore because no Constitution.

Trump & Co say we'll keep the courts, but purge all judges not appointed by me or someone named Bush. And there is no law but what we promulgate.

Then we purge the Congress of all the "enemies within". Some folks who lost their races might be glad they aren't in DC at that particular moment.

Then we declare the military must swear loyalty to Trump directly.

I'll leave the rest as an exercise for the reader to complete.

But you need to look at Gaza with clear eyes. What you see there is what happens when a population without a state, without rights, without protective institutions is targeted by a strongman with no conscience.

That's what we will see in the US. The nice, polite white folks who just couldn't bring themselves to vote for the smart, qualified lady in the pantsuit will avert their eyes & talk about how good the "economy" is doing.

As I read over posts here on Mastodon & elsewhere, I think that a very large number of people are missing the tectonic shift that just happened.

    White people have vetoed America.

Some voted for the orange shitgibbon directly, but most just didn't show up.

White people declined to preserve their nation from annihilation.

There is not a single voter who didn't know the stakes & they were cool with the fascists taking over. They know about Project 2025. They watched the previous Trump regime.

The vote yesterday was a vote for white supremacy.

    Period.

Don't try to analyze it more closely. Don't look for "if only Harris had done X," excuses. Don't talk about economic anxiety or immigration fears or feeling looked down on by the liberal elite.

You don't get those white voting numbers without a substantial contingent of white Democrats marking their ballots for Trump.

White supremacy was the unspoken issue on the ballot & it won. Bigly.

I went for a very long walk today, mulling over the election.

Trump was not more popular than before. His voters declined by 3 million. He experienced the effect he should have, reduced to his hard-core fanatics.

The WTF of the election was the drop-off in Dem votes. 14 million, possibly more, from 2020. The vast majority of the drop was in white Dem voters.

WHITE DEMS PUT TRUMP BACK IN THE WHITE HOUSE.

Since you did, I fervently hope you get what you voted for.

Your failure to vote is as much a vote as if you filled in the bubble next to Trump's name. Far too many of you did that, too.

If you, a white Dem woman, did not vote for Harris, you should die of pregnancy complications. You know it's what the GOP will legislate, a national abortion ban. You need to share the fate of the other women you have consigned to this misery.

White dudes, may your children be maimed & die of childhood diseases when vaccines are banned.

Trump & Musk have promised to crash the economy. Welcome to your job loss! Welcome to a roll-back of unionization.

Maybe you're a naturalized citizen. Kiss that goodbye. Repealing naturalization is a wet dream of Stephen Miller's, along with ending birthright citizenship. If Trump's a dictator, no Constitutional restrictions on reversing this practice.

You think your whiteness will protect you from this? Maybe. Will it protect your non-white spouse or SO? We know it won't.

Enjoy watching the Saudi-funded Trump condos going up on the beaches in Gaza. Not only will the hope of Palestine be extinguished, all Palestinians will have been killed.

Hmm, maybe Palestinians in the US will be stripped of rights, de-naturalized & deported to Gaza. Bibi will be glad to provide a "solution" (so to speak) for these people.

Women are going to have their rights & control over their lives steadily reduced. If you couldn't bring yourself to vote for Harris, I'm sure you'll be cool with losing access to birth control for starters. Maybe you will have to have your father/ brother/uncle/ husband/son give you permission to work outside the home or have a credit card, like in the 60s!

Think about the restrictions on women's autonomy in states like Iran, Afghanistan & Saudi Arabia, & you see where they're going.

Your refusal to vote for a non-white woman as president, putting into office a sadistic criminal surrounded by others like him, backed by fundamentalist theocratic fanatics pretending to be a political party, protected by a crudely authoritarian Supreme Court, & embraced by the cruelest, wealthiest & most inhumane billionaires across the globe, will come back to bite you in the ass.

Sadly, it will do the same to the rest of us, too.

Social Security is no longer a going concern. W wanted to privatize it. Trump & his cronies will just pocket it. You may still be obliged to pay it, however.

Obamacare is toast. It will probably be one of the first things axed because of Trump's hatred of Obama. Have fun going back to private, job-based health insurance that can refuse to cover pre-existing conditions.

You don't have any of those, right?

Minimum wage increases? Pffft, don't make me laugh.

I'm reading over posts on Mastodon claiming that the Biden-Harris administration's failure to implement a leftist agenda is why they lost, that Harris was punished by the left for being corporatist.

    Give me a fucking break.

The margin of loss was not due to leftist hissy fits, though Bernie Sanders is already grifting (as usual) off this claim.

It was the white supremacy, turbocharged with misogyny. Stop trying to put leftist lipstick on this political pig.

@mekkaokereke @DoesntExist @jcrabapple @Tarah @corycarson It's a foolish mix of insisting white women are pure, innocent angels who can't stand up to their brutish husbands & an arrogant assumption that people on the right don't know their own self-interest. Oh, the poor dears are just doing what their terrible menfolk order them to do

    No.

They are hateful white supremacists, too, as much as any man, & they truly want a world where they can abuse non-whites as they wish. Period.

Harris' speech on the Ellipse has garnered some gleeful responses because it was at a minimum 5 times the size of TFG's 1/6 crowd (75K vs. 15K), but there is another, deeper contrast.

The 1/6 riot was a maximum call-up of Trump's thugs. It took weeks to organize & huge amounts of money. That was their maximum effort while in complete control of the executive branch & with dozens of active agents inside the Congress to empower their invasion.

    They failed. Bigly.

In comparison, the H/W team was able to pull together this much larger audience with about a week's notice & (as someone, Maddow I think, put it) "reconsecrate" that sullied public space.

By the thousands, we can quickly gather & bear witness to what is best about our country. No doubt a number of people came from out of town for this event, but most are from the greater DC area.

    We outnumber these rat bastards.
