Pinning this so hopefully more people see it: We don't love RSS enough It's mostly a call-to-action that if you can style your feed, you definitely should so that those unfamiliar with it can be assimilated.
@sun@shitposter.world Send me money and I'll give you a chance to roll on a variety of gacha games. There's a 90% chance I'll suggest a poorly-made inferior option, but you can pay more for extra chances at a decent game!
@Hyolobrika@social.fbxl.net I'm not sure what you were getting at with your bees/honey comment.Consider the ethics of owning something like stocks in tobacco producers or other addictive products.is it okay to have power over and/or extract wealth from something that doesn't employ you, or operate near you, or that you don't depend on in any way The whole point of being a publicly traded company is that you can be externally financed. In theory, if there are no problems everybody wins. In my opinion most of the problems with corporations stem from a lack of enforcement of fraud and other crimes, or negative externalities that may well be considered crimes in their own right.
So I would double down and say that there's no moral issue so long as the product or service being offered itself isn't (or isn't likely to be) net negative. I believe what you're hinting at is that if one is detached from the outcome, it may be hard (or inconvenient) for them to discover problems.
I agree, which is why I think passive investing is a cancer that creates way more problems than it solves. I just wouldn't go as far as to say that being detached from something itself makes financing it immoral.
(inb4 finance is usury and therefore immoral, I need a research grant to figure that one out 😅)
@Hyolobrika@social.fbxl.net I voted no, I would argue the morality would depend on the nature and net benefit of the products provided by the service. For example somebody who is allergic to bees/honey isn't a bad person for owning shares in a company that makes beehives. (So long as those beehives aren't nefarious on their own....)
It feels appropriate to post about #SoftwareFreedomDay on the Fediverse. Many of us wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Free Software. I run both #Misskey & #Mitra which I find both quite fantastic in their own right.
@wjmaggos@liberal.city I think fomenting resentment is counterproductive to improving relations between groups. There's no guarantee it will pass into something better. But I think "woke culture" actually traces back to a different source that is no less horrific.
The reason for the censorship isn't to stop ideas from spreading. The Streisand effect ensures this will never work. The real reason for the censorship is to sever communication so that people are arguing with imaginary enemies rather than actually resolving problems.
☢️ Nuclear #Libertarian ✝️?? I’m a geek who is passionate about decentralizing power into the hands of the people.Very much an idealist and still have much to learn.Banner image by: Vyzziehttps://linktr.ee/vyzzieeCheck out @lsn#Canada #Freedom #Linux #Tech
