@inthehands @wdlindsy I agree with that, but I also think that the model of protest that has been most popular, based on the 1960s anti Vietnam war protests, isn't working.
If we drill down into the civil rights movement, based in many ways on the Indian independence movement, the tactics that were most effective were non-violent non-cooperation. Protests are wonderful as a way of raising awareness; but they can't be the only thing we do. So far they have been.
"The function of a civil resistance is provoke a response, and we will continue to provoke until they respond or change the law." The right has figured out that they can, in fact, ignore protests. A total work stoppage for a few days will get some attention. If NPR blows protests off, do something that NPR can't blow off.
