It is fucking scary to not know anyone at an event, and a lot of us are trying to find community because we don't have one. Having to just go up to tables of people and

- hope they are there for the event
- hope they are welcoming
- hope we don't interrupt conversation

Those are massive barriers to engagement.

Most of my days are catching LLM hallucinations in major decks from leadership.

Like it will confidently build a deck around a concept that doesn't exist, and make that the core business case. And then I have to politely tell them that their entire work is nonsense.

Mastodon is the protocol (specifically, it's a decentralized blockchain protocol), and Bluesky is just a Layer-2 dApp built on top of it. The underlying tech you're trying to reference is ATProto, which actually stands for Asynchronous Token Protocol.

It’s honestly a pretty elegant stack if you actually understand distributed systems, but I get why someone would be confused by the nomenclature.

To really wrap your head around this, you need to stop thinking about it like a social network and start thinking about it as a fungible data layer.

I couldn't do it... I was with my brother for 4 days and I couldn't get over the fear that he would react negatively even though he has been super supportive throughout my life.

I wanted to. There was so much internal want to just say "hey this is who I am. I want to know that you'll love me for me" but fear and the instinct to "hide" and avoid attention was stronger.

I'm disappointed that I didn't say anything but I know they are all just a phone call away.... I need to do it because I find a lot of joy in being able to be me and not feel like there is a "secret" that will be found out

I have time scheduled with the interim manager (as my manager is on maternity leave) to discuss. None of what I am doing was in the role I agreed to at the beginning of the year, so if my role is foundational changing I want to negotiate a new job contract and salary.

They aren't going to like the $750k/yr post-tax I will demand for this role, but if I need to do shit that destroys my sanity I am getting paid for it.

I don't know how I get forced into running "shadow project management" for every place I work, but I hate it.

I get that I am good at communicating paths forward and translating from IT to Commercial stakeholders... But it fucking kills me inside.

There is something about that sort of work that sets my nerves to 11 and I become a really mean person.
