«Easier Onboarding for Your Fediverse Experience»

Getting started with #ActivityPub on #WordPress just got a lot easier. A new guided onboarding experience is now part of the plugin, designed to help you configure key settings and understand how your site connects to the #Fediverse—from the moment you activate it.

@louis @Unatributed Louis, I know about Mozilla fundings and they went that path since the donation one, as used to be in the past, did not work.

The data input on the search bar and sent to partners are part of the Firefox Suggest functionality which can be deactivated as well (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-suggest). That's not something shady imho.

As I told before, users can choose to use any other Firefox fork on the market if they don't trust the Mozilla Foundation (I am using Librewolf myself).

@Unatributed @louis Firefox's code is public, you can have a look. Their privacy policy states that you can opt-out any telemetry function using the browser settings. Do you have any undisclosed information on this?

@Unatributed @louis I do understand your point but I am not aware of any different story so far. Mozilla has a Matrix instance for the community: https://chat.mozilla.org/ maybe you could ask there and some people with more insight than me/you can give us an answer on this topic.

@Unatributed @louis I do understand your point and I like your approach to things but their telemetry functionality is not something new and it's pretty well documented (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/telemetry-clientid). What we discovered today is that they are open to explore new business with some privacy in mind. But neither this is something new: I can see the Mozilla Foundation testing new business over the last years (file sharing service, VPN service, anti-spam mail relay and so on...).

@Unatributed @louis they understood they will not survive by only relying on donations and providing a web browser. But their products are open and a lot of fork have been created (you could switch to any of those and I suggest you trying them).

@louis for everyone not aware: you can still opt-out of #Firefox's #telemetry and get a pretty good #browser.
