@kino@Gargron@admin I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re refering to as Mastodon, is in fact, Tumblr/Mastodon, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, Tumblr plus Mastodon. Mastodon is not an social network unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning autism network made useful by pronouns, purity spirals, and unhinged, psychotic screaming comprising a full social network as defined by Eugen.
@punishedmob@ryo@heavens_feel@Arty24 In this environment, I think the only good option is trusted networks of individuals using private communication, engaging in cooperative guerrilla economics.
I can buy point cards for goods/services, for example, and trade them for crypto with people if some kind of trust system (escrow etc) is established. Markets for this kind of thing are emerging as we speak.
This solution won't appeal to everybody, but the unfortunate reality might be that this turns into a game of Darwinian selection. People willing to engage in successful tactics will survive, and those who do not will fall by the roadside.
@ryo@Arty24@udon Right now, we're at the stage where utility is very limited, and only people who are thinking ahead and are in a financial situation to be able to do so are stacking and trying to use where they can. Can't change other peoples' behavior, but I can prep for the possibility that the environment changes in my lifetime, and help others do the same.
(For the record, there is a very roundabout way to use crypto for day-to-day shopping in Japan, but I don't want to post about it because I'm scared too much attention will get the loophole closed down).
@matana@Arty24@riserise@ryo This appears to be the case. Regular pixiv doesn't appear to be affected as per this notice, but this pours a bucket of grease at the top of that slope.
@ryo@Arty24@riserise Shitty DeepL translation of the post, for those interested:
=== A Request to all those who are trading contents and products on our services
Currently, many transactions are taking place on BOOTH, pixivFANBOX and pixiv Request function. Among them, we have confirmed that some transactions have violated Article 14, Item 26 of our Terms of Service Prohibited Activities, which stipulates "the act of using this service to display, sell, purchase, register, or otherwise conduct transactions for the following products.
In addition, the terms and conditions of international card brands, etc. also prohibit transactions of content or products that include the following
Child pornography or child abuse Incest Bestiality Rape (sexual acts without consent) Illegal mutilation of the person or body and other acts that are offensive to public order and morals.
We ask all users to check the BOOTH, pixivFANBOX, and pixivRequest functions for the terms of service and whether any of the above items are being handled, and to take action to withdraw or close the items to the public.
■The Terms of Service will be revised on December 15, 2022.
Article 14.26, "Using the Service to exhibit, sell, purchase, register, or otherwise transact the following products" will be revised to make it easier to understand the criteria for products and content that are prohibited from being transacted.
The new Terms of Use will be published in a notice in late November and become effective on December 15 (Thu.).
Please refer to the new terms of use to be released in late November if you are unsure of your decision. If there are items that are prohibited from being traded on BOOTH, pixivFANBOX, or pixivRequest, please withdraw them or make them private by Thursday, December 15, when the terms will be revised.
If management discovers prohibited items after December 15 (Thu.), the items will be made private. In addition, if you are continuously trading prohibited items after receiving the measures, we will suspend your account.
At Pixiv, it is our important policy to protect free creation and respect its content. We believe that creating a safe environment for our users to conduct business with us will help us to do so, which is why we have made this revision.
@riserise@Arty24@ryo fantia and Ci-En might be options, but if fanBOX is getting swallowed by the SDG/ESG monster, I wonder how long they can hold out. The root source of this shit is the credit card corpos, after all.
@Arty24 New rules from pixiv. No """child porn""" and no rape depictions allowed due to "international guidelines". That's about 75 to 80% of the content gone
