I don’t see the lawyers or academics who let an LLM produce fake citations getting the same treatment. Remember kids, plagiarism is *super cool* if you use Claude to write your code, or ChatGPT to write that essay!

Incredible scenes: had a takedown demand from a large unnamed miniature company for a model I remixed and published on Thingiverse.

- It only uses CC-BY sources
- it’s a proxy for a unit that does not have a purchasable model
- it looks completely different from anything they ever made

I think this is purely because it uses one
of their trademarked words in the description and tag, and it’s been caught by some script.

@freya the figurehead being a white nationalist (see his blog if you want), and the Rails team being OK with it while a lot of us weren’t.

I am ashamed of the fact that I’m stuck on #Rails because of the sunk costs of what I’ve already built, as are *so many* other project like Mastodon.

We cannot “just move”, the cost is enormous.

The Rails core team seem utterly compromised and under his spell. Nobody will speak out.

We need a hard #RailsFork. Now. And we need to coordinate to do it together and build a team.

I’m in. Who else?

I'll regret asking this I'm sure, but let's say I was sick of VSCodium / VSCode being incredibly slow, what nice simple genAI-free IDE should I try out on macOS?

I like GUIs, but just want code editing, a terminal, a file browser, and version control. No other cruft required, and absolutely no genAI shite. What's good these days?

To pre-empt some answers: I'm unlikely to use vim. Emacs is a possibility.

Trying to solder something and it’s an exercise in frustration, as my iron appears to be dogshit. Maybe at 50 it’s time to treat myself to a decent one.

Recommendations welcome. I don’t do much soldering, but when I do I’d like something that *works*
