@noelreports it's really a side issue, but I'm curious about the cables staying in the landscape. Are these sturdy and don't degree over time? Will the trees be littered with these and could they pose risks to wildlife and people in the future?

@tchambers @fediversenews I doubt that Threads had actual substantial usage... they just funneled their user's accounts over and will ruin the platform like they did with fb and insta.

I use bsky... and while I find it more usable than Mastodon, the spam problem is much worse. Their "the users must fix it" approach won't be enough.
Hard to predict where this goes... but if Mastodon and Bsky don't make substantial changes, then I can imagine a new competitor stepping in.

@ina Mastodon and PixelFed are mentally relaxing. I never have to wonder about their agendas or secret changes in algorithms.

My Instagram worked OK for my artworks - until Meta decided now only want videos. And I despise their UI. #PixelFed is already much better, despite bugs. It (and #Mastodon) accept high resolution images in formats I prefer. :revblobfoxdealwithitfingerguns:

But cross-instance sharing is still a hurdle.

@dansup Hey Daniel - thx for the reaction. I'm on pixey.org - so the same admin as here (stux). I DMed and pinged before. I can totally imagine they're way too busy to react to messages... but that still means I'm stuck with the problem.

Would love to get some #FediVerse advice:
I hope to make an art-only account on the FediVerse. But #PixelFed seems broken for my account there - and so far I get zero support from either PixelFed or the admin of my instance.
Sadly I must assume it's not ready 😕

I'm not sure yet if I should switch instance or switch to Mastodon. I'm hoping to reach a wider community ... so I'm tending to make a .social account, rather than an .art one. Is that a good solution? Any other options?
