@killyourfm great article! I've gone this way the past few years & kept the things I enjoy. My main enjoyment is my music, so hifi/CDs and Vinyl. I don't have much in my house and enjoy that fact. But, I do go through the process of "would I regret this?" when I get rid of stuff - which isn't simple, right?

If my child moved out, I could down size easily. But, my music collection is me, and always has been. That would never go.

I've gone the other way though - "would this be beneficial to me?"

@killyourfm I did, and since then I've needed to move from MVP setup to setting up my home lab up properly as it's been left for a few months and I've unplugged my HA voice device.

When I used it, I loved it. Felt free and like I actually owned my own house devices 😅

Best part for me, being able to control the lights without an internet connection 🥰. Local first is just perfect for me!

My task next month is to get it all sorted - and cost up my network set up moving forward.

@killyourfm yeah, I was horrified with the requests. I've since started investing in Home Assistant and just block stuff I don't want - to the annoyance of my partner who needs to be set up on an "allow all" rule in PiHole 🫣

@killyourfm Judging by the amount of people shifting from Windows => Linux due to the latest Windows version, I wonder if people will switch to a console instead due to "ease"?

I've just got my cousin converted to the Steam Deck. She's never used Linux, but doesn't play AAA games. She's not noticed any issues and loves the device!

If the Steam Machine pushes on that, I think it would cause concern for devs to think about it more seriously .. 🤔
