@skinnylatte I was first acquainted with tofu in the US. And I hated it. It was the most uninteresting food I had encountered.
Then I moved to Japan and realized that the problem was not tofu but American cooking, just like with every other ingredients.

@dansup Honestly Dan, I think it's a mistake to allow text only posts on Pixelfed. It being only about pictures is what makes it attractive. If it does the same things as Mastodon, why bother using Pixelfed?

@gabboman @evan If you try to start a restaurant with food you don't "understand" I'm fine with it. Your restaurant probably won't last long.

And sorry, let's not bring the "cultural appropriation" thing with food. It's already a very dubious concept in the first place, but every single cuisine is the result of mixing of cultures and other cuisines ingredients.

Cuisine is part of a shared culture and identity. It's not something owned by anyone. The whole point of a restaurant is to share this culture.
