I'm Mohammad, a journalist in #gaza ,sharing the truth of our daily lives on Mastodon & Instagram. I live with my mother, my brother, my sister, & her young children. But in the shadow of this ongoing genocide, simply surviving—securing basic shelter and enough food—has become an agonizing struggle. We are fighting for every day. Pls, ur urgent donation is vital. Help us reach our modest goal of $500 in the coming days to keep my family safe & fed.
I've been absent from my work for two days due to a moderate cut on my finger. " Can't put on my shoes It is perhaps difficult for me to be away from work for 2 consecutive days. I don't go out to see, witness, & personally observe the news, but today was somewhat comforting—this stagnation, this not seeing the sadness in the eyes of the people around me, not seeing the hunger & misery.
Please pray for me to recover soon and return to my work. 🍉♥️
Hello @aral and @joynewacc , Thank you very much for your efforts. I was wondering if I could cover your Gaza Verified in the media and prepare a journalistic report about it. It will be in Arabic with an English translation written below the report. What do you think?
I would really love to tell people here about what you are doing and share this beauty.
These are pics of kids: the first a kid carrying a bundle of bread, and the second holding a pot with a little soup. I personally took these photos with my camera while working on a news report for an organization. I stress this point cos some friends here were upset before when I used pictures taken by colleagues who had documented scenes of displacement from northern #gaza arriving at the position before me. These two children are the ones responsible for finding food for their family @aral
The hardest scenes I film are these ones, the scenes of displacement and walking on foot for 4 or 5 continuous hours. My camera captures them, panting from thirst like they are and starving like they are.
Scenes of displacement from the north of Gaza to the south
Good morning💙It's a new day, & I've woken up to go to work. However, I feel a sense of failure & lethargy after the last thing I filmed with my camera at the Nasser Medical Complex. It was of a Dad & mom who lost their only son next to their tent. I've to continue with my work at the expense of my mental health, which I lose a bit of every time I witness these scenes.believe that a journalist shouldn't be overly emotional. #gaza#genocide#palestine#mutualaid @aral
I truly ache for my camera and for my eyes, burdened with the weight of what they are forced to see — the horror of bodies burned alive, the flames consuming the innocent, the haunting corridors of Nasser Hospital’s morgue and the cold silence of the refrigerators of the dead. My heart breaks for the lens of my camera, and I know that every journalist feels, deep within, the same unbearable pain I carry.
I’ve just been verified by Aral and Joy through a lovely video call on Signal. @aral@joynewacc
I’m grateful to have my name added to the Verified Gaza List and I truly hope to reach my goal of $1,500 to buy tents for myself and my family to shelter us from the coming winter cold.
I am now living in a tent with my family, but the cost of food & water has become more than I can manage💔
With winter approaching, our tent has grown too worn and fragile to keep us safe. I humbly ask for your support to help us secure new tents. We urgently need $1,500. Any contribution, big or small, would mean the world to us. Please, if u can, donate & share — ur kindness gives us strength to endure.
