All of us need to remember that the right repair is fundamentally a property right. Or to put it another way it means when we buy something we actually own it and we don’t instead rent it from the manufacturer who will bleed us dry with rent.

The terrible irony of Donald Trump saying that a civilization will end, is that he’s absolutely correct

Just not the way he means.

The change is what looks to be the final nail in the coffin with respect to our nation’s civilization.

This is going to rewrite global relations.

For those of us in the US, the task of rebuilding something completely different while freeing ourselves from billionaire extinction cult despotism will be the work of generations

As a global resource crunch in both energy and raw materials necessary for the production of everything from food to all those renewables people want to have and the power grids they need.

The best defense against supply chain collapse is local and regional economic autonomy, which should cover the basics so that people can eat and keep a roof over the heads and keep their children clothed and going to school. Local economies are a form of insurance.

Yeah, I am forever thankful that I have a public library a half a block from where I live and then I walk in with my tablet here and get into the Wi-Fi and go and download whatever from JSTOR.

It’s kind of crazy that it’s so messed up for you.

A long time ago, Israel had a problem of suicide within their military ranks. They found the effective solution was to remove access to weapons from their soldiers when they weren’t on active duty.

You can bet this is going to be an absolute disaster

The funny thing is is it’s not really 26 pages. If you skip over the references which often can take up a quarter of a page and she uses a lot of references.

The pages themselves appear to be scanned from actual paper.

So that’s an interesting statement that capital flight because Hitler was elected push the German economy into acute economic crisis.

Classically a nation falls into economic crisis when it has debt denominated in a currency not its own. The US and I believe JP Morgan did lead here issued the number of loans for Germany over the ladder half of the 1920s. After a few years of recovering, the German economy fell into recession / depression at the end of 1927.

By the time 1932 came along and with the additional suffering inflicted by austerity, it really suggests that the German people who by all accounts had been very long suffering, political violence, economic turmoil, the devastation of the early 1920s plus the war, all from political system that was a little more than chuckle fluster cuck.

I can’t help thinking I’m reminded of something going on now

Out of curiosity, did you read the article I’ve been quoting from? It’s 26 pages but I think you’ve already said that it’s a lot of assertion without data behind it.

Her comments about inflation with respect to “reparations” are very pointed because the conventional narrative is that the economic burden of them is what caused hyper inflation.

As usual, history is more nuanced than the reductionist marquee story

“ When Germany slid into acute financial crisis on the heels ofthe September 1930 election, German leaders began to seek reparations relief, although the initial credit crisis itself was caused primarily by a dramatic flight of capital in response to Hitler's electoral success, not by reparation”

Interesting. The amount of continuous negotiation of reparations over the 1920s has never really mentioned in most historical accounts. diluted repeatedly.

“ They have similarly overlooked the fact that the inflation mushroomed in the period from the summer of 1921 to the end of 1922 when Germany was actually paying very little reparations. They have also failed to explain why the period of least inflation coincided with the period of largest reparation payments in the late 20s or why Germans claimed after 1930 that the reparations were causing deflation.”
