Arguing with my 15yo daughter in a fight that she has picked with me out of the blue on a Saturday afternoon: does 2.9999... equal 3 or only converge on 3 without attaining equality. Whichever the case, it's a nice moment as a parent.

@inthehands @xgranade I don't do it for a couple reasons. (1) then the hashed password is just the password, so you don't get much security benefit - if someone sniffs the API request or something, they get the hash which is as good as a password; (2) it makes it harder to enforce policies (e.g., if the API takes a hash, it might be a hash of a Very Bad Password, and you are only enforcing otherwise on a front end); (3) if you have different front end tools using the API they all have to implement the same hashing mechanism, which can be a PITA.
