Huh. What happened to the Pixelfed API docs that used to live at https://docs.pixelfed.org/technical-documentation/api/ - I used to refer to that from my embed sample. Now it just seems to be installation guide and ActivityPub compliance doc, no API 😞
@ropoko have you thought about demonstrating this at #Fediforum (or a #Fedidevs meeting)? I’m curious what you’re doing around extensions etc. The GitHub resources are a little light as far as I can see. Is there a running instance I can look at?
@J12t@FenTiger@feditest i think for this one it would be good to record especially as the test suite demo is intended for many eyes I think. we could default to record and host the replays on a peertube instance maybe? How concerned are we about frankness of discussion on or "off" record 🤔
Current speaker is giving an example that gives me a deep sense of sadness. Using an AI agent to basically keep calling people to sell a product. Nope nope nope. This is where the usefulness of tools takes off in less palatable ways.
The fact that it is an Open Source thing doesn’t make me feel better about it.
I have very complex feelings about the state of the world at the moment.
One thing that was evident at #FOSDEM was the move to Mastodon / #Fediverse handles for speakers - seems as though Twitter is still hanging on here in London today. 🤷 Of course nobody is calling it X.
The Princeton Decentralised Social Media Workshop was great - well-organised, with opportunities to talk with a range of folks, several I've long admired from afar. Building the new social web has challenges, but open dialogue and the chance to learn from one another make me continue to feel hopeful about the next steps.
Now, EWR -> LHR and resuming my regular routines for a while.
Listening to Sen. Markey compare and contrast the 1996 Telecommunications Act that he wrote, with today's online platforms and the ability to switch providers (or not) @DTinitiative
@evan one of the things I loved about early Twitter was the connected things - plants, ferries, etc. @andysc had a concept of "blogjects" -> "tweetjects" back then. ActivityPub absolutely can be another network where these things could be useful.
From a pure AP standpoint, it would be interesting to think about how to implement (say) ActivityPub C2S from something like Arduino or #micropython on a small device, or indeed from @nodered as a concentrator of sensor data.
If you were curious about the carousel of maps (Mapstodon infoviz, Mastodon near me) and other web things (Feditrends, embedded timelines, the Fediwall itself) on the @Mastodon booth at #FOSDEM, there are links to them on our "Thanks" page from the event -> https://andypiper.org/mastodon-info/thanks.html
