@nopatience I didn't buy any ebooks in any form myself so I don't really know what I'm talking about here, but I remember someone (maybe it was @karlemilnikka ) saying that the thing to do is to buy e-books in a way that makes it possible for you to download book files in an open format (possibly with some watermarking thing to discourage you from spreadig it to others) so that you know you will always be able to read the book. Even if the company that sold it disappears in the future. @mwl

@fantomtexter jag har undrat ibland hur grundlagarna skulle ha sett ut om den här typen av personer som de som är i regeringen nu hade fått bestämma. Misstänker att det inte hade funnits några rättigheter alls då, de verkar ju ha noll förståelse för varför mänskliga rättigheter finns.

Auto updates are one of those things that are probably a good thing when applied at a population level, but have really rough edges.

I hate them, I never want them. The software was working, and then it wasn't. stop making me jump through hoops to do the thing I was doing perfectly fine 20 minutes ago.

This is another example of the ongoing dismantling of human rights in Sweden.

The current Swedish government is doing this together with the "Sweden Democrats" party, rooted in Nazism. But we are not supposed to talk about that.

I personally do *not* like the ongoing creation of a police state. I am ashamed of my fellow Swedish citizens who voted for this shitty, spineless government.

Oh wait, I'm pretty sure criminals also eat food, then we should arrest food producers as well, they should no longer get away with aiding criminals in this way. Plenty of people to arrest in this brave new world!

@hyc I read that there are two types of detectors: optical (which I think is what I have) and heat detectors that simply react to changes in heat. Maybe that's what you have and it gets triggered just because the steam is hot. According to this theory, switching to an optical detector could help.

@hyc from my experience at home it seems they can distinguish them, it never started beeping from the bathroom or from boiling lots of water in the kitchen. But it does beep when a frying pan is left for too long on the stove (real smoke) which happened a few times.

I think it's because the thing detects smoke particles, which are much larger than water molecules.

I think it would be good to raise awareness of the fact that any proprietary software used in a research process is bad for reproducibility, so should be avoided. It should be possible to reproduce your research using free (as in freedom) tools.

Bra att de strejkar! Det är väldigt dåligt för samhället, inte minst för patienter i vården, att vårdpersonal har så dåliga villkor när de gör ett så extremt viktigt jobb.

Samma gäller lärare också, lärare borde också strejka mer.
