I see a lot of books/tutorials about mysql. Can I use those to understand mariadb? It seems that I can, it also seems that mariadb is preferred to mysql.

If anyone has any good sources to learn more about databases, I would love to hear them. I am just getting started with them.

I'll mainly be using it to hold text and numbers.

@youronlyone that’s a cool idea, what if the errors that occur are due to other people trying to error correct and it’s an arms race to who can perfect error correction first.

@youronlyone I could see that. When I got my marriage license, I had to do an online marriage class hosted by the government of San Juan City. The lady hosting, was working from home, and her husband was walking around behind her with no shirt and when he saw me, he shouted, "Hey Joe!".

I think that situations like this could also be the reason 😂

@youronlyone I’m lucky to be work from home full time, but my wife is still in the office 3 days a week. So they keeps us here in Manila. If that were not the case, we would also be out of here.

@youronlyone I drove my wife to work early one morning and the sun was still rising. The entire way, all I could see was the jeeps blowing thick smoke from the exhaust. The sun’s angle made it really noticeable.

@youronlyone @uncomfyhalomacro I’m kinda of the same way as you. I still advocate for it. But putting it into practice was such a difficult thing and no one else cared about it so I was basically stuck using less private platforms.

@youronlyone @jikodesu I chalk these thinks up to incompetence. Sometimes you don’t even need to use a vpn. You can just change to a different dns server. But Skycable is a bit annoying at times.

My presence on traditional #socialmedia is basically 0. I open those apps less than once a month at this point. The #fediverse has really grown and doesn’t leave me feeling like I’m missing something.

@youronlyone Good luck getting BPI to register their app using their sms authentication.

It took me 2-3 days of trying before I could log into the app after opening my account.

How safe is signing in with mastodon? Is there a down side to this or should I just register a separate account?

@ChallengeApathy @libreoffice If you go down the rabbit hole of foss software you may find many foss alternatives are simply better than the commercial ones. I think it’s because they make improvements for the sake of improvements and will fix bugs instead of just working on ways to limit the software unless you pay.

Anyone in the #Philippines using #ProtonDrive ? I’m wondering what their upload and download speeds are like here.
