Self-hosting common services that are needed by many is, I think, a byproduct of hyper-individualism. People have been indoctrinated into believing that we cannot trust each other to build and own our commons, but we can trust GitHub etc.

Wholeheartedly agreed, and our double-standards aren't helping us. We are much more critical of each other despite having a lot in common, but we're often very accepting of companies that do not share our values nor act in our benefit.

One can see it happening against Mozilla, Canonical, Matrix, ...

@dansup Exciting! Since you're just starting it, would you consider hosting it on Codeberg instead of GitHub? IMHO we should lean on ourselves than others.

@jwz A (potential) benefit would be a better compression ratio (for a single pack file) but the drawback would be the time it takes to repack.
