Peertube instances running into storage cost issues? Yeah. I am not surprised. For a lot of them I’m actually surprised it took this long. High quality video is big. Really big. And even more so if you store multiple transcoded versions of each video. I have no idea which other way this could end.
I'm willing to die on this hill. If you type some words into suno, if you type some words into udio, if you type some words into dall.e, sora, chatgpt, you're not a creator. You didn't make that thing. The AI made that thing. Your involvement in the creation was minimal, like a friend saying hey wouldn't it be fun if? If you did that, and your friend then took your suggestions and did all of the work to make it happen, did you make it? If you go to a restaurant and say yes I want this specific dish, would you say you made it? If you take the output and modify it manually, then we can talk. But until then, you're still just a consumer. Sorry, not sorry.
An idle thought. An image description service. * Send an image fingerprint of some kind to the service. * The service looks up the image in a database. * If a description is found, it is returned. * If it is not, an automatic description is generated, and the image gets put into a queue. * People with sight can review this queue and give feedback on the automated description, or suggest a new description instead. * If a manual description is given and accepted, the automated description will be removed, the image will be removed from the queue, and the manual description will be returned instead. * No logging for retrieving image descriptions. Must be anonymous. Don't shame people for looking at what they're looking at. * Open source * Maybe federated? Choose an instance that you prefer. Can share descriptions and queues between instances maybe?
Look I'm sorry but if you give me tabs it doesn't matter what kind of app it is I will invariably end up with hundreds of them open at any point in time.
