I want to encourage my fellow white people, especially those in the US, to practice reparations by giving to the Black folks around you who are seeking mutual aid, crowdfunding for basic survival needs. This is a way that we can observe and celebrate Juneteenth.

It's also Black Music Month, and as I've written before, every white musician owes a debt of gratitude to Black folks for innovating every music genre. You can't appreciate Black culture while neglecting Black people.

For #PrideMonth, I would like for you to have my latest album for free. The Tower of Babel Falls is an anti-fascist #indie #folk album against christian nationalism.

This song in particular is my little anthem for self-determination. I spent about 15 years in the church as a deeply closeted queer, autistic kid (and later adult), feeling so often invisible, misunderstood, fearful of my conditional belonging.

Pride is for us. We don't have to prove ourselves to anyone.

@steter @sb Thank you both. I think I was able to install autofs with the help of this article. Got about halfway through (right up to "Creating your first auto map file") before my brain fog kicked in. SD cards still won't mount.

My latest technical difficulty has been getting my SD reader to work on Linux Mint... I'm trying to load my samples to an SD card to use with my hardware sampler, so I can make tracks in bed when I'm ill.

I'm surprised that there are so many forum threads about Linux Mint failing to mount SD cards and no solve. Shit like this makes me quite a bit disillusioned with Linux.

If anyone out there can offer a hand, I'd be very grateful. Running Linux Mint 21.3 on a 2019 iMac.

The only help I've gotten so far from the Linux Mint community is the suggestion that I try booting a new version of LM to see if the SD reader works then. The thing is, if it does, and I have to update my OS, I don't want to break any of the pro audio adjustments I've made and create more stuff to troubleshoot.

I keep thinking (and occasionally sharing) about how I want to create videos on #musicProduction, #musicTheory, and #linuxAudio. But the thing is, chronic illness makes it so hard. I've decided video essay will be my primary format. I can write and record scripts in bed. I've just got to decide now what visuals to use (when not using OBS screen captures or vids of me demonstrating techniques). Looking for recommendations for easy #video: b-roll libraries, video synthesis, anything, lmk.

Reasons to pay indie artists:

- They tell truths that media conglomerates simply cannot.

- They're less likely to harvest and sell your data.

- Their creations are less likely to be funded or sourced by fascist, colonial enterprises.

- They, like you, need to eat.

Cancel Netflix, Spotify, Disney today, forever, and go make yourself useful to creative society. Fedi is at no shortage of talented artists who could use kind patrons.

In just a few short years, my circles went from saying, "listen to disabled people!" to essentially excluding me from their events because they don't practice accessibility. Everyone has been so brainwashed into thinking COVID is over.

I assume many people here know about it, but openverse.org is a great resource for samplists and collage artists. I've used it for my music and album artworks.

Hey folks, I wanna throw in on this #FediHire thing. I'm a freelance musician based in Los Angeles in need of more work. I teach guitar and voice, and I record, mix, and master music for others.

I got hit with a one-two punch of long-COVID and autistic burnout In 2021. I'm a former church musician, and I'm queer (you can imagine how that might have gone). I've been scraping by for a long time.

You have to tend your creativity everyday, if you can.

Some take that to mean: "Alright, gotta drag myself to clock in at the creativity factory now. Better come up with a masterpiece today, or boss will get on me."

That's capitalism thinking for you.

Tending a plant doesn't mean just one thing: just watering, for example. That's how you kill a houseplant.

In the same way, stop being so hard on yourself as to make creative practice be this one, narrow-minded thing you've taken it to mean.
