     Perhaps there's a way for us to help Palestinian folks to another instance when their mods are found discriminating?

     Also, there ought to be something we can do about mods who are found to be discriminating against Palestinians (and folks in need of mutual aid in general).

     @arendleejessurun @rzeta0 @edendestroyer @nicdex Unfortunately, there are assholes on the Fediverse that will report people asking for mutual aid. It's also hard sometimes to distinguish scammers from the real thing, especially with many new accounts popping up.

     This account has been verified by gaza-verified.org/, so definitely not a scammer.

     I don’t know what that means.

     From the posts I’ve seen Mahmoud wasn‘t abusing hashtags by mentioning unrelated topics. He did use #trump apparently. Not sure if that triggered it.

Assuming bad faith before he even had time to say something is now how you communicate well. Moderation is already a shit job as it is, and opening up individual decisions to public discussion can be a can of worms, because people then know they can scream at you.

     @arendleejessurun @rzeta0 @edendestroyer @nicdex If I had to guess, Mahmoud tagged people lots of people that he didn't have a prior connection with - the rule/social convention not to do that trips some Palestinians up.

     What we can do now is boost his posts, this way he will get seen anyway.

     But more importantly, what did Mahmoud violate?

     I'd expect there to be a LITTLE more leniency since he is after all, living through a genocide.

     @arendleejessurun @rzeta0 @gunchleoc @edendestroyer There was no discrimination here, I just applied our rules and code of conduct.
     In addition @mahmoudoov received two warnings, the account was only limited on the third violation. I also closed a bunch of reports because they were unfounded.
     I was going to review the limitation after a week, but if this is the kind of trouble I will get in for only applying the rules, then maybe it's best if @mahmoudoov move to another server.

     I think this is a multi-front effort requiring multiple skills.

     Some will be good at migration, some will better at advocating, some will be better at spotting bad admins

     Some will have the fight in them to hold bad admins feet to the fire - something we can't give up on, because that is like asking black people to find another restaurant that isn't so racist

     I saw a few days ago that hachyderm was welcoming Palestinian voices.
