@skinnylatte huh, I thought it was decide you don't want to be a DE, become a software engineer, join a team that has no metrics to speak of, realize that there is not and will never be sufficient DE support, begrudgingly learn a bunch of the things in that list because nobody else is and you need to actually measure things dammit, accidentally become "the data person," and finally stop resisting and accept your fate. ;-)

@skinnylatte @deathkitten we moved to Florida a couple of years ago for family reasons but while it is cheaper than the Bay Area (and I got fairly lucky w/r/t remote work and the like) it's really not _that_ much cheaper, and if we didn't do it for family reasons we'd have regretted it for sure.

In a related note, the Spanish version of the word, #enmierdamiento, might be my favorite word ever.
