@hmm_cook how though? This is my number one biggest issue; all the sensory overwhelm. How do I mitigate that? Already tried: ear plugs (over ear headphones don't work; they hurt me too much), sunglasses, staying at home. Is there anything else? If so, what? I'd love to go to a Christmas market or, hell, even just hang out with family on Christmas, but I can't, because it's just too much (sensory as well as emotional and just focusing/brain capacity with too many people around).

@hmm_cook and! their reaction isn't your fault. It's not on you to anticipate every and any possible reaction, and you *cannot* (I can't stress this enough) communicate in such a way that you will 100% get your desired outcome or reaction from the other person.
Communication is a two way street. A interaction between sender and receiver. It can go wrong at *either* end, and sometimes there's no one to blame at all.
