@noyoushutthefuckupdad You either die the hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villain/meme. Seriously though, Playstation literally having no games after 2028? Where the fuck ARE we?

@LukeAlmighty Didn't the Interspecies Reviewers dub stop because of the genderswap episode? Anyway, translating ain't the issue: consistent editorial oversight over said translations (and the lack thereof) is. That the Japanese gov't sees AI as a means to piss on piracy, as opposed to a way of protecting what little cultural integrity the industry has, tells us all we need to know.

@LukeAlmighty If your website doesn't require several external JS scripts, how will anybody know if your business is legit?

@lain Pretty hilarious that the new sales tactic for broken windows is basically "hostile architecture is less racist because it involves no personnel and pisses off everybody"

@LukeAlmighty Disney's mismanagement of Star Wars really ought to be studied formally. They fumbled the sequel trilogy so bad that its stink even affects the "good" spin-offs, simply because plot points like the First Order and how they blindside the New Republic are like cancerous black holes that only be avoided for so long.

@lain Every movie now is written to highlight obvious plot points over and over like you're stupid. And most people still have trouble remembering them 15 mins later.

@beardalaxy @LoliHat That's where it starts: first it's just something minor, like an API for other applications to "optionally" reference. Next thing you know, devs have their arms twisted into feeding data into said API one way or another.

@LukeAlmighty Full free speech? Absolutely yes, even with all of its consequences. I certainly understand why most would attach caveats to it. BUT we tend to be very skittish and short-sighted in doing so, setting the stage for bad actors to poison the well ("Freedom of speech, not freedom from consequence!!!").

@mischievoustomato Funny, but also an illustration of where we are now: Normie outrage and contrarian shitposting. Does make me wonder what the equivalent memes for Charlottesville VA would've been.

The real horror in the Minneapolis ICE shooting is that, again, people are shown that the government can kill you with little-to-no consequence. And the usual condemnations from the usual politicians might as well be a display of helplessness on their part.

Most isms are backed by social incentives. What better incentive is there now than good ol' jingoism?

@sun @Hyperhidrosis
True, but censoring at the on/off-ramp is a major disincentive by itself to most normies.
>they don't have to do it because there's no reputational risk
Sure, until some busy bodies raise a stink to make it a reputational risk.

Crypto's not a solution by itself tho, since mainstream exchanges have already been buck broken into complying with KYC regulations.

Only ShortFatOtaku can make a 4 hour video about a porn game controversy. How long until the YT overlords strike it down for the usual reasons?

@sun
Perhaps, but it says a lot that people came out in droves to vote for the socialist, versus someone with a dubious record running the entire state of NY. It'll be interesting to see the ranked choice voting breakdowns next week.

Probably because said culture has always been at odds with the whole "share/repost/free use" thing us gaijin take for granted.
