@thomasfuchs At least thanks to the 14th Amendment that has been extended to apply to the states too and not just the federal Congress, though of course it’s not of much use against private universities, for example.

@krisnelson (krisnelson@legal.social)'s status on Thursday, 24-Nov-2022 13:03:50 JST @krisnelson Hey all, with the continued influx of Twitter people, I'm once again seeing a drop in the number of people who add alt text/image descriptions to what they post, denying access to many disabled users here.
Exactly how you do this varies by Mastodon client app, but it is usually just below the image once you upload & before posting.
Even a short-but-useful description is better than nothing—focus on what you're trying to get others to get from the image rather than describing every detail.

@krisnelson (krisnelson@legal.social)'s status on Wednesday, 16-Nov-2022 21:42:39 JST @krisnelson As someone who regularly uses screen readers and works with blind colleagues who rely on screen readers to access the internet, please let me assure you that using #hashtags within the body of a post is not a problem.
You don’t need to move them to the end!
It is helpful to use #CamelCase to avoid gibberish for many word combos, but the extra # is so minimal as to disappear given how much else screen readers say & how fast they speak to experienced users.
