    @tusharhero android is technically linux but i think in my eyes falls short of it because it doesn't really have the same hackability. maybe that is me just being a goof ball though. also im pretty sure android has blobs in it

    @zimoun @civodul @janneke I see, that makes a bit more sense. I am not used to having a comfort of my environment working in software professionally so i have never had this; i just use what they regulate for me. a way to interact with forgejo in emacs would be on my wishlist as well for what its worth.

    @zimoun @civodul @janneke also i hold everyone in this thread in respect, just to clarify. i understand things are rough right now for people who are used to certain things. i just wanted to give a perspective from the otherside of the fence. i apologize because i realize now these conversations have all already happened in a mailing list somewhere :)

    @zimoun @civodul @janneke i get that it is different and something new to learn, but in my opinion (i do software and have tried to do the email workflow in the past) it is much easier for people who do general software development in their day-time to now contribute to Guix. Reviewing PR is a skillset (it is often how we can differentiate junior and senior roles, how well and effectively they manage PR reviews among other things) that definitely needs time to learn though.

    my favorite thing about GNU is if you read the C manual it says "when GNU c fully supports c99 this manual will be updated to reflect that"

    @cwebber i tested copilot for my last job and it suuuuck at lisp it's so funny. it just adds an extra parenthesis and can never get rid of it because it requires more than just singular positional token awareness.

    @csantosb the problem with this is i already have to tell them how to get around the guix red screen and that alone cuts interest of most. adding another step is a bit of a pain ontop of that.

    30s technowitch. somehow a professional software engineer (staff.) immigrant living in germany.i would rather be building a 6502 dream machine than be in this meeting. fan of writing parsers, emulators, and interpreters. not a fan of finishing projects.c, typescript, rust, zig, floss, gnu, scheme, emacs, guix.risc architecture is gonna change everything.
