@blaise more pesticides means fewer insects, which means fewer birds. That being said, as a resident I feel like this time of year is when I historically see the fewest number of birds. Add to that, Nebraska saw unusually cool weather in mid August that may have tricked some into early migration. I'm not a scientist. Just a local.
