Israeli settler and lawyer says 'one Jewish life is worth 10 million Palestinian lives'

During an interview with the BBC's Lucy Williamson, Israeli settler and lawyer Yehuda Shimon, who represents Israelis accused of violence against #Palestinians, said that all Palestinians living in the villages of Tal, Sarra, Jit and Farata should be killed.

His remarks came after an #Israeli security guard was killed last week during settler attacks on Palestinian villages, in violence that also left four Palestinians dead.

"One Jewish life, it's 10 million (Palestinian lives)," Shimon said.

'Ceasefire Is a Joke': Israeli Soldiers Recount Ongoing Indiscriminate Killings in Gaza | Common Dreams
"It was a jungle,” one soldier said. “After the ceasefire, the order was: If someone crosses the line, you shoot them.”

One IDF combat soldier told the AP that he saw his teammates “yelling in celebration” and “congratulating one another” after blowing up a vehicle driving near the ever-expanding so-called “yellow line” dividing the Gaza Strip into Israeli and Palestinian-controlled zones. The strike killed everyone inside the vehicle.

Tens of Thousands Rally in Havana Against US Aggression as Cuba Prepares Citizens for #War
“Here we are prepared to fight imperialism,” said Cuban lawmaker #MarielaCastro, daughter of Raúl Castro. “Cuba is a small and poor country, but one with experience confronting US imperialism.”

Tens of thousands of Cubans rallied Friday in Havana to denounce the #Trump administration’s indictment of former President #RaúlCastro and threats to attack the island nation, whose socialist government has been preparing its citizens to defend their homeland and revolution against #US aggression.

“No disrespect is shown to the heroes of the homeland!” Cuban President #MiguelDíazCanel said as people flooded the streets outside the US Embassy in #Havana. “History and traditions are not insulted without a response! That does not happen in #Cuba."

At the U. of #Michigan’s recent commencement ceremony, history professor Derek Peterson delivered a 5-minute speech in which he celebrated all those who have fought for justice at the university, my alma mater. Invoking our legendary fight song, he asked the crowd to “sing” for suffragist Sarah Burger, who battled to get #women admitted as students; for Moritz Levi, UM's first #Jewish professor; for all the students who fought for #RacialJustice at #UM as part of the Black Action Movement; and for the “pro-#Palestinian student activists, who have over these past two years opened our hearts to the injustice and inhumanity of #Israel’s war in #Gaza.”

Video - From Miami to Havana: Why This Cuban American Is Speaking Out
https://peertube.world/w/j3V8K63g6adySjvVGwLEmu

[a #video about #Cuba from the #news collective #BellyOfTheBeast]

Cuban-American politicians have long been a driving force behind the US government’s #EconomicWar on the island. But many people of Cuban origin living in the US reject the hard-line policies that have ravaged the island’s economy and caused widespread scarcities and hardship.

Danny Valdes, a Cuban American born in #Miami, recently visited Cuba with the #NuestraAméricaConvoy to help bring #HumanitarianAid to the island.

“There is a very well organized and powerful right wing Cuban lobby, that even is in the halls of the Congress that gets to determine what #US policy is toward Cuba,” said Valdés. “But we feel like it's a very important time now to say, not in our name.”

BEIRUT, LEBANON—In early October 2025, #Lebanese #paramedic Haj Qassem Sultan stood outside Marjayoun Government Hospital in southern Lebanon and addressed Lebanese TV.

“Our message is clear. Even if we are killed one by one, we will not abandon our duty,” he said. “We will continue to serve Khiam and Marjayoun and Al-Taybeh and Debbine and all of our sacred land.”

He was attending a memorial for seven of his colleagues who were killed...

On Friday, Sultan was killed in another Israeli strike on an Islamic Health Authority (IHA) medical center in Burj Qalaouiyah...

ICE arrested an Oregon shop owner who had her green card in her pocket: ‘They didn’t care
Juanita Avila later helped expose ICE’s ‘arrest first, justify later’ tactics in a lawsuit that won a major victory for #immigrants’ rights

The moment 19-year-old Emely Agustin spotted the group of masked #immigration agents tackling a woman face down on the pavement, her heart dropped.

She saw the woman’s red jacket.

“Oh my fucking God. That’s my mom!” she screamed.

It was the morning of 5 November in Cottage Grove, #Oregon, and masked officers with #ICE had dragged Juanita Avila out of her van. The agents pinned her down as she cried out for her daughter, who started filming. Juanita, a 47-year-old legal permanent resident, had her green card in her pocket, but officers handcuffed and detained her.

No fuel, no tourists, no cash – this was the week the Cuban crisis got real

Cuba is in crisis. Already reeling from a four-year economic slump, worsened by hyper-inflation and the migration of nearly 20% of the population, the 67-year-old #communist government is at its weakest. After Washington’s successful military operation against #Cuba’s ally Venezuela at the beginning of January, the #US administration is actively seeking #RegimeChange.

Stoking concerns is news that lack of fuel is hampering the UN World Food Programme’s efforts to relieve suffering from last year’s Hurricane Melissa. The organisation, which keeps a low-key presence on the island, is now having to draw up plans for a new, far larger crisis. “We’re already seeing the impact in the availability of fresh produce in the cities,” said Étienne Labande, the WFP’s country director.

The Department of Homeland Security (#DHS) is expanding its efforts to identify Americans who oppose #ICE by sending tech companies legal requests for the names, email addresses, telephone numbers and other identifying data behind social media accounts that track or criticize the agency.

In recent months, #Google, #Reddit, #Discord and #Meta, which owns #Facebook and #Instagram, have received hundreds of administrative subpoenas from the DHS, according to four government officials and tech employees privy to the requests.

In the lead-up to the #US surgical attack on #Venezuela, Washington repeatedly harped on the theme that the mutual aid agreements between #Cuba and Venezuela were dangerous and nefarious.

Speaking of this relationship, #MiguelDíazCanel said, “Only those who are unaware of the value of friendship, solidarity, and cooperation forged between peoples can mistake the relationship between Cubans and Venezuelans as a mere business transaction or a vulgar exchange of products and services.”

Mounting outrage over an ICE agent’s killing of a woman in #Minneapolis spilled into streets across the country on Saturday, as crowds of protesters mobilized against what they called the excesses of the #Trump administration’s mass #deportation campaign.

The “#IceOutForGood” campaign held #demonstrations in small towns and major cities, including some that have been central targets of President Trump’s #immigration crackdown. The protests came three days after an #ICE agent in Minneapolis shot and killed Renee Nicole Good, a U.S. citizen at the wheel of a car, during an encounter in South Minneapolis.
