My self-hosted git repo inside my own network is still working. How about yours?

Not for nothing, but since it's being brought up, here's my two cents.

I've been off Twitter since April 2022. When I quit Twitter, I had 10,000 subscribers on YouTube, and probably a few thousand followers on Twitter (don't remember).

Today, I have over 10,000 followers here on Mastodon, and I've added 100,000 subscribers on YouTube.

I did that without Twitter over the last two years. Maybe you can live without it, maybe you can't. But for me, Twitter just wasn't necessary to gain success.

@mike Those signage programs can be a nightmare. I once managed to get something replaced using Linux and a bunch of API hacking but only because the customer was *insistent* that we ditch Windows. I was happy to do so but for a lot of folks that'd be well outside of scope!

I was just told I'm threatening the Ventoy "community" by [checks notes] not mentioning it enough in my video. Had someone say they're coming after my systems now. 🙃

Didn't think I was going to be putting up my harassment defenses over a boot tool, but here we are.

So, here's my recommendation: don't use Ventoy.

The community will threaten you if you ever leave.

I'm starting to wonder if Ventoy is some covert op thing.

To be clear, this is a gut feeling, could be totally wrong, etc. It is not a firm stance.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why humans would ever threaten me over *not mentioning a boot device tool*. Feels suspicious.

It seems odd that this *boot device tool* has users literally threatening me in the comments, simply for not mentioning it.

It's a boot device tool. I get picked on for all kinds of things, but this is the most vitriol aimed at the most absurd topic, and that doesn't square in my head.

So, here goes. If you or someone you know have information about security concerns with Ventoy, I'd like to know about them.

Something doesn't seem right about this, and I want to shed some light on this project. Maybe it's great and just has weird fans, but my gut tells me something's up here.

There should be a law against this.

I'm trying to imagine how this would work with other machines.

That's *exactly* why I think it's logical that Mastodon should implement "do not let my server collect replies to this toot", and introduce a simple flag for other instances to honor.

"My freedom of expression!" the replydude cried, as he was swiftly banished from the instance.

Note: my Mastodon only sends me a notification for replies. So... this is only 73 new replies since last night around 11.
