Maybe the older ppl you've known forever or more normal but it's almost impossible to make real friends with either of those crowds.
Whereas I can go into almost any community on Twitter and hit them up we'll hang out on vacation or smth. I can't even remember the last time I had a girlfriend that I didn't first find on Twitter or Instagram, for that matter. Near zero chance of that happening here. -

Niggy Hardare (j@cawfee.club)'s status on Wednesday, 20-Nov-2024 09:42:21 JST Niggy Hardare @eris @sun I don't think Fediblock is the biggest problem with Fedi. I think one of the big problems is something Moon has been dealing with lately, it's a pain in the ass to run.
You also can't make real friends here bc people are too paranoid to call, hang out IRL, or anything like that bc alt tech people of all stripes are paranoid schizophrenics.
That was fine when I was 21. I'm not 21 anymore. I want friends I make online to translate into real socialization. -

If all men are created equal, then all men have a ridiculous burden that most, maybe all, can never possibly live up to.
That's why we have kings in the first place. It's literally why there are kings and priests in the Bible. -

The benefits are always more or less entirely theoretical and it just ends up sucking for a different reason than the mainstream sites. -

It's not my forte though, I've mostly learned about this through wasting entire days on Brave TM Search rabbit holes. -

Niggy Hardare (j@cawfee.club)'s status on Wednesday, 20-Nov-2024 04:15:08 JST Niggy Hardare @tiskaan @amerika @une @7666 @arcana @sun @toiletpaper There are books of the Bible that refer to Sophia (wisdom) as a woman, and the first begotten person in creation. Early Christianity viewed it as referring to Jesus, but then Arianism happened and that thread got dropped.
Gnosticism made Sophia the principle that falls into disunity with her male counterpart, who is Jesus Christ, which causes the cosmic fall and creates Yahweh and his angels.
Sophiology is a crypto-feminist movement in Christianity that usually identifies Sophia as the Holy Spirit, and the Mother of God, and that first principle, and they usually also invoke one old archeological discovery of Yahweh with an Ashteroth Tree, an old idol which is probably the ritual image being alluded to by the menorah and the trees in the Eden story.
The mythical connections are a whole rabbit hole but usually it all services bringing more ugly lesbians into the priesthood. -

Niggy Hardare (j@cawfee.club)'s status on Wednesday, 20-Nov-2024 04:07:17 JST Niggy Hardare @tiskaan @amerika @une @7666 @arcana @sun @toiletpaper He probably has a skewed view of the place of the early schools of thought in Catholicism.
Catholics, especially Jesuits, have been trying to bring that stuff back for hundreds of years, as well as incorporating foreign religions and philosophies. Christian Hermeticism, Christian Platonism, and Christian Taoism are syncretisms that have been held by cardinals and high ranking bishops for hundreds of years, obviously while attempting not to stretch past the limits of dogma. Same with early Patristic retrieval, and they do it in a far more natural, plausible way than the Mormons. -

Niggy Hardare (j@cawfee.club)'s status on Wednesday, 20-Nov-2024 04:00:51 JST Niggy Hardare @sun @amerika @une @7666 @arcana @toiletpaper This is propaganda BYU likes to shill, but often the Mormon "rediscoveries" are actually just them being influenced by Renaissance-Hermetic ideas that were already back in the public consciousness via occult movements, which were especially popular in early America.
You'd see the exact same similarities in Masonic rituals and other neo-esoteric groups. The only difference is Mormons wrote that stuff back into their founding texts ad hoc.
Researching Mahayana I've run into a similar problem. Every 500 years or so you'll have a new golden age of philosophy that draws out deep insights from the original teachings that are "lost" or simply overlooked, which is fine on its own, but then you have monks after them that will write those developments back into forged "primary sources" (almost all Mahayana Scripture falls into this category) and they go "Look, we have the original undefiled teaching of the Buddha! Come support our school!"
