@zens i used to use cdda2wav but arch wiki says that freedb.org has shut down a few years ago, making the automatic metadata function probably useless. 'asunder' looks good as a gui choice but I've no experience with it, but it lists aac as an output option
@zens@fireweed sorry, no experience of modifying retail games 😢 . if you've already managed to extract a file from a dreamcast image, you're already using the tools that I could suggest.
Apple-taint aside, my 2012 MacbookProRetina is still mostly going strong. The monitor glass glue is slowly disintegrating and the built in SD card reader is toast. But the main issue is the battery, which randomly drops below minimum voltage and turns off the laptop. So I'm considering a replacement battery, but a lot of the reviews suggest the replacements are good for a year or two at best,
and I'm wondering if it's more wasteful of money and e-waste to enter a cycle of annual battery replacements than to try and find a new long-lasting laptop. It's not an option to always use the laptop tethered to mains power, so I do need a working battery ?
replacement battery from ifixit got here really fast... so fast that the bottle of adhesive remover leaked all over the contents of the kit and now I've got no adhesive remover to unglue the previous battery, and a suspect replacement battery that might be chemically damaged (looks fine though) :sadlinux:
ifixit sent me an entire new replacement kit, with another battery. And once again the adhesive remover bottle is empty. Feels like a bad joke at this point. Do people huff this stuff, is someone stealing it? Is it evaporating while sitting in storage for years? Gah
