that is interesting. on eldritch.cafe we have 5000 character limit. on craftodon.social my other instance i'm on, we only have 500. this just goes to show you instances really do make their own rules and stuff, and that mastodon is not all one thing.

would it suprise you to know i am a christian? i don't trample on heartfelt religion. i denounce religious oppression and harm that leads to violence and hate. Jesus did too. I'm gonna block you like i did the other people who found this post to respond to it, but you at least get a response. if you engage further tho i will report as harassment.

Fascinating to see that even when a white man points out abuse on Mastodon that his replies are riddled with "move to another instance"

Guys, while I know you're trying to help, you're not. The abuse shouldn't exist. We should be working together to figure out means of social consequence for moderators/admins of instances that allow hate and violence to happen. We should be standing in solidarity with the victims of abuse on those instances not just telling them to move.

Do we tell the gay person who wanted a cake at their wedding to just go to a different business when the cake seller is homophobic and refuses? No. We worked to create anti discrimination laws and pushed that they be enforced. Mastodon needs an anti discrimination rule that is blanket for all instances and enforced somehow without losing the decentralized nature. This is sociology 101, all societies need social mores. And if we can't have social mores that put marginalized and abused people first and enforce the lack of abuse then maybe we don't deserve to have this space.

@hypolite tbh I'm probably not the best person to ask since I haven't been on Twitter for 2 years and only see the current discussion about this via friends. But I know it's a discussion on Disability Twitter right now

@hypolite easier for them to have reach and get their product out to the masses that might not be following or interacting with them

what's your take on Mastodon being bad for disabled people trying to keep their businesses going and that losing that ability they had with Twitter and it's algorithm is a bad thing that Mastodon is not equipped to stand in for. i feel like this is a better space for disabled people forming community, but trying to find interest in their businesses here might be more of a problem. which does seem losing Twitter is bad for them in that respect. i wonder how we here at Mastodon could fix this issue here.
