Diamond of Diamond & Silk just died. She was an antivaxxer, and appears to have contracted covid in late november. They're not saying what she died of, but it seems likely covid killed her.

@lxo using "colonial" metaphors for different apps is gross, especially considering Black twitter's criticism of this one. don't be a dope.

@evan someone was like, "if you don't stop RTs in 48 hours I will block you". so of course I blocked them.

like everyone, I'm trying to figure out how to handle one of my main platforms maybe possibly becoming unusable. sharing posts on mastodon and occasionally hanging out here too seems best for me for now.

I know everyone doesn't like RTs from twitter. that's fine; you're welcome to block or mute me. Issuing me ultimatums about it is kind of not cool though?

a lot of folks seem to think that no algorithm is good. I'm not so sure.

The algorithm was part of what made twitter such a great source for news; trending topics told you what other people were talking about and created a way to keep abreast of politics and culture.

the algorithm also helped you find interesting people. click on a trending topic, you'd often find people you didn't know discussing things you didn't know much about.
