A thing that has annoyed me the last couple of days is that I have friends to finally, FINALLY, decided to leave Facebook, Instagram etc (which I've been telling them for literally years) and then they say they are moving to Substack. Oh. Right.
I don't know what to say to them. I mean, it is good that they move off Meta's services, but if I start telling them what I think of Substack they might just...well...not move. I still see them not moving as worse than them moving on to Substack, but I might be confused here in my thinking that if they have started moving they might be more open to other, better, services (than Substack).
@eshep@social.trom.tf They look great. I obviously get curious about the prompts too.
As a sidenote: your images are 25-30mb. Each. In most of the services where I can see your post I get served a lo-fi representation of the images. Only when I click the separate images do I get the full resolution and detail, however they are much larger than the screen size I have access to.
It would probably be a good thing to resize/compress images for social sharing in a controlled fashion, that does the images justice, and perhaps link off to the full-size images if that is what you wish to share. Just a thought.
However, unlike Mastodon, in Akkoma I can't exclude the posts from lists from my home feed if I indeed do follow the people on the list. That is a nice Mastodon feature.
You still need to follow the accounts you add to lists in Mastodon, right?
In Twitter (and also in Akkoma) you can add people you don't follow to lists, which is a great way to keep tabs of people you'd like to keep an eye on, without boosting their egos with following numbers...😆
For even more confusion: So I've added my Sharkey account on Nostr, but I see no trace of it on Sharkey. When I tried to add my Misskey account the Nostr app said "Warning: Possible imposter!" in red, which was amusing, and then I couldn't add my Misskey account. Ah well.
However...on Sharkey I see the messages I've sent to you from Nostr, i.e. without having to go to your instance, which is unlike my Akkoma instance where your replies sort of "hang in the air" as my Nostr posts can't be seen.
@BeAware@social.beaware.live Oh, I don't give up that easily, it is just too late tonight. One reason it could be failing is that I have turned on/up all security measures, including logging in with Passkey. It could be that I have a mismatch between authorization and capability right now. 😬
@BeAware@social.beaware.live One thing you can do for testing these things yourself is to send your Mastodon account a post from your Sharkey account (in Mona). Make it a private post that only mentions your "regular" account and no one else will see it. It should tell you if you can post or not though.
@BeAware@social.beaware.live For some reason Mona lets me login, and I can read all the things alright, but when I tried to reply to this post from Mona on my phone it gives me an error message. Strange. Need to work out what/how/why, but not tonight.
@BeAware@social.beaware.live Have you tried https://dev.phanpy.social (and save it as an app on your phone)? You don't get notifications in iOS, but as an app it has most of "the things". I'm typing this from Phanpy on my Sharkey account as we speak, quite literally.
Mostly using this for testing, but am quite impressed so far.My other main account in the fediverse is @m@thias.hellqui.st with my other regular back-up account on @mathias@friendica.hellquist.eu I write long posts on https://hellqui.st and I also have a not-so-up-to-date blog at https://imakethingswork.com
