@multiverseofbadness I wasn't eager to share it on That Other Place, but people constantly walking around me, behind me, by my desk, etc when I am trying to work does me right in. I worked in an open office with a bench arrangement, no walls, and for a week I legit thought I was going to have to quit over it.

One of the many fantastic things Mastodon has over Threads: engagement bots are totally ineffective here.

Local TV news just pitched the opening of a new Panda Express as “great news for foodies.” *puzzled look*

I had a particularly rednecky relative in the 80s tell me how she was passed over for a secretary job because of “affirmative action” and she was sitting there chain-smoking, with no front teeth and unwashed hair, and at, like, 14 I was thinking “yeah, right, I’m sure reverse racism was the reason.”

@multiverseofbadness @lukem I’ve seen a drop-off in movie-related conversation, but the web development stuff seems much more active here than elsewhere. I find Threads massively irritating to use, though, so I check in maybe once every week or two.

“Robots.txt” is one of those standards only conscientious developers follow, because adherence is voluntary, it’s not backed by law, and requires more work than ignoring the file does. Only slightly more effective than posting a copyright notice on your Facebook page.
