@hellomiakoda I reported it and highly recommend any other Google Maps users continue to do the same on a regular basis until changed. (Or optionally not use Google anymore, not like they're not gobbling user information anyways.)
Reminder that it is okay to just exist sometimes. You don't always need to do. I forget this sometimes and my mental health usually erodes when I don't.
The sensible folks here already know this but because he's Autistic it needs to be repeated because some folks with preconceived biases and/or ignorance would assume otherwise:
Autism does not make a person perform a Nazi salute.
Autism does not excuse someone using a Nazi salute.
Autism and Nazis are oil and water. Nazis killed us during WWII eugenics programs. Fascism as a whole always ends up with varying degrees of ableism and discrimination against neuro-minorities.
We do not advocate for Elon's behavior and do not approve of the symbolism he has used.
Elon Musk has, despite being Autistic himself, spouted plenty of ableist rhetoric throughout the years. He has caused great harm to our image and community both up to this incident and with it.
I wish they stuck around more - having a hyperfixation actually reduces my understimulation and bleeds energy into my regular life so that I actually come alive and experience better executive functioning as a whole, albeit with the need to "go easy" on the hyperfixation so its distraction doesn't swing into becoming a problem itself
Autistic people need context with unclear communication, because we don't rely on assumptions as much as non-Autistic people. Some of us can hazard guesses but would rather not. Some of us can't even hazard a guess.
!! This is not sealioning. This is disability. !!
Sealioning is a tactic by disingenuous people to frustrate and undermine a thought by engaging in unnecessary discourse to sow doubt in the thought and discredit the person by making the thought appear less-than-well-formed.
We don't give a shit about that, we just want clear communication, and if you're being unclear we're going to ask for clarification. If your opinion is full of shit, we're going to say so instead. Are we CAPABLE of sealioning? Some of us might but this is a rare circumstance and I don't believe this is going to be our default method of fighting opinions we don't like.
Before accusing an Autistic person of sealioning, please re-read your statement without thinking about the context behind it. Is it CRYSTAL, "EXPLAIN LIKE I'M FIVE" CLEAR? If not, they're probably not barking.
"Groups representing telecom companies, home security companies, and internet advertisers don’t want to make subscriptions easier to cancel."
Of course not and that's precisely why the government needs to intervene to protect customers. It shouldn't have to be this way but shady business is being shady and now it must.
@AnarchoNinaWrites Zuck dying on the hill of "freedom of harmful misinformation amplification" is such a weird thing but here we are and there are the buried bodies and broken families from it.
Shout out to America for not having a free and legal method to watch the #Olympics online, because something monumental like a globally unifying competition that should serve as a national celebration of our team competing against the world must apparently be capitalized upon by NBCUniversal, our sole national media coverage of the event
Highly highly recommend fellow high masking #Neurodivergent folks, if you can, to get alone time and just do what pops into your head (important: as long as nobody is getting hurt, including yourself) Be free to explore who you are without the world telling you to shut up. Talking, singing, moving, dancing, exploring, etc.
It may seem weird at first, because to society it is weird, but if you're alone there is nobody there to care except yourself.
It's time to be free of your personal shackles and just be happy.
Will you still have to deal with neurotypical society's shackles of unfun, of course, that's life, but you don't need to hide from yourself. Be your own safe space.
@youronlyone Also agreeing with the others that you're basically "out" with your Autism. Think along the lines of being out as someone LGBTQIA+, before they are open about who they are, they may still show some behavior that differs from typical societal trend but they may not necessarily be open/out about it and telling people that they are. Same with us.
I am a Nuyorican/mixed race AuDHDer spouse/parent with Social Anxiety in my mid-thirties that lives in the Northeast US and works in tech, and I have a thing for video games and computer operating systems. I like talking a lot about my Autistic and ADHD experiences, emotions and observations.Prev: Token, J, Galaxy
