currently working on a gmaeboy emulator for my talk at r2con. I want that emulator to be accurate. does any of you know how i can brick the screen of a user who runs a game in the emulator, which deactivates the lcd outside of vblank? If not, how do i cause a kernel panic from userland? -

i'm totally fine with ai businesses using my code to train ai models. i just don't believe that generative ai could code better than competent humans -

this is by far better than exceptions. it forces other devs who want to use your api to think about checking for errors at least once. You could go even further and intentionally crash the process whenever functions from your api get called without an pointer for error checking. stubborn people could still ignore the error code but in that case, they do it intentionally and it is not your fault, if they intentionally use your library incorrectly.
Exceptions on the other hand can be easily overlooked -

@colahpse they don't want to talk about wealth inequality. at best they talk about income inequality, just to get decried as marxists by the other side -

@meso i think i might have told you wrong rpm numbers, but you get the idea. i'd say uphill you want it to be around idle rpm + 200, otherwise idle rpm + 100 rpm to be on the safe side. -

@meso befor you start releasing the clutch you give the gas pedal a short slight touch to build up some momentum. if you start driving uphill you lean a bit more into it. immidiately you release the clutch to the point where it starts to get grip. then you give it some throttle just so that you're around 1700-1800 rpm (depends on the car). you try to keep that rpm while you release the clutch further until it is fully released.
Getting the timing correct can be a bit tricky at the beginning.
you may not need to do it this way on newer cars as they often slighly increase the rpm when then driver releases the clutch and the engine runs at idle. -

@meso most people don't know that cars from driving schools are often setup to run at higher rpm in idle. that is so that during driving lessons it is easier to drive, but it comes at the cost of worse fuel economy. when i got my license my dad's mini died all the time when i was driving for at least 4 days, because they taught me using the clutch incorrectly -

@meso probably driving school taught you the wrong way of using a clutch -
