Good sounding solution from #Bluesky to the quote post problem. Where is #Mastodon at with quote posts now? I thought I heard they were on the roadmap, but that was over a year ago.

I love that Kamala's pick for vice-president is a data and maps nerd. This makes me very, very happy. 👇

@spurs There we go, Spurs fans REPRESENT on the #fediverse. Thanks for all your support, friends – it's incredibly gratifying to have such a viable, fun, knowledgeable, and thoroughly decent alternative to Xitter 🙏
Up the Spurs!
Worth noting, founder Jack Dorsey (who also founded Twitter) recently left the board citing the reason as "they are making all the same mistakes as Twitter"
They are VC funded to the tune of around $8 million for now, I believe. There is talk of them charging for "premium services" and custom domains/user handles. Not sure how much they plan to make through that, however. Seems a bit of a flimsy business model to me. But these tech companies don't care much for robust business models. It's always a case of building a user base then worrying about the money later (usually by monetising the user base)
@BeAware Ah, I see what you mean. Different people from different backgrounds place varying importance on things like this. Some think the aesthetics, the brand, the vibe are important. While others think it less so. I'm somewhere in the middle. Brand recognition and the feelings evoked by that recognition are important, but so are other things too. I'd agree the logo isn't a priority right now - the seeming stagnation in Mastodon feature development is for me the biggest worry.
@BeAware I don't understand the metaphor, sorry
@BeAware one of the practical problems is with the luminance of the colours. A few iterations on the palette would probably help. Here's an example of a more rationally designed palette:
@BeAware There are some objective issues with the current logo that make it impractical and sub-optimal in various scenarios. But I like it's spirit. It could use a few iterations to improve it on a practical level while maintaining it's vibe. The asterism has a few problems too - chief being it looks different depending on the font being used. It's not a replacement for a proper logo.
I like this. Have never vibed with the current logo much because it doesn't work great as a general purpose icon (mainly because of the multi colours it's always used with clash in many situations; but the mono treatment is fine).
Wow, I'm not American, but I am fired up by this. Love the energy. I want to vote! 🔥🔥🔥
Where will you be following #LEITOT from? There are lots of new people here this season (on Mastodon, Bluesky, and across the #fediverse); let us know in the replies where you're at. 🌍
Here's #Bluesky spiking in the UK following Elon Musk's trash talking Britain. Anyone know if #Mastodon or other parts of the #Fediverse saw a spike?
Don't forget to follow @bsky.brid.gy to bridge to Bluesky so people can follow you. Ask them to follow @ap.brid.gy on Bluesky so you can follow them back.
The Jon Ronson of football, Men In Blazers' Rog meets Ange Postecoglou. A splendid interview. Well worth your time.
Great to see such steady growth of the #fediverse.
Seems a lot of people outside of the UK weren't aware of events unfolding here. With people leaving Twitter/X for other platforms, it's more important than ever to understand and promote federation between these platforms.

A point missed in this thread and worth pointing out: the riots were spread by misinformation (inadvertent) *and* disinformation (intentional).

@mmasnick No.1 task should be easy bridging to ActivityPub/Mastodon/Fediverse like Threads is already doing. Ideally opt-out. Ideally also making efforts to align AT and AP where possible.
Hashtags are great but c'mon, know when to stop.
@spurs Bit sad to say it looks like Bluesky is gaining loads of new #coys people while not many joining Mastodon or the wider fediverse, and not many taking the simple step of following https://bsky.app/profile/ap.brid.gy to join with other #fediverse networks. Not sure what we can do to improve the situation. It's a real shame the community got fragmented by competing networks. 😕
Pick your social poison.
Spurs fan. My family have supported Spurs since the beginning, when the club colours were navy blue and we played on Tottenham marshes.Child of 1975. Also known as Charlie. #COYS #THFC #FediFC
