Is anyone else getting many random follows from user123 at gtmastodon.online or mastodon.gtmastodon.online? (The numbers vary.) I'm going to defederate with this instance unless anyone out there knows what they're up to.

On the bright side, yes, I have a Let’s Encrypt CA and DNSSEC/DANE, MTA-STS, CAA, and all the acronyms. I also edited the Postfix config files to require TLS for outbound connections to some servers that I know will never not support it, like Google, Microsoft, and a few others.

@dalias @a @mwl I’m also “cheating” and using DANE to match the intermediate CA’s, not the public key of my cert. I should really fix that.

@mwl Running port 25 behind a residential IP is an instant block. I have everything running like clockwork behind a mid-sized hosting provider, but I'm always looking to improve things.

@a @mwl I was thinking the same thing, via Wireguard or whatever, but your idea might be better.

I judge restaurants based on whether or not their guest Wi-Fi supports #IPv6.

In Linus’s case, he could put his Mastodon handle in the Linux kernel’s comments, or post it to the kernel mailing list. Of course, not everyone can do that.

Some people doing Reddit AMA’s have taken a photo of themselves holding a piece of paper with today’s date and the subreddit name. Perhaps that can be a low-tech verification solution.

Or, have someone post something on another social media site, “I’m on Mastodon at…” Again, not ideal, but doable.
