So is #DivestOS and their apps officially dead now? There doesn't seem to be any clear info on their website. Many people will probably unknowingly continue to use #Mulch or #Mull without any in-app notification. #Fdroid
@aral I have zero knowledge of tech, just a layman trying to understand what tech is not involved with the endless data extraction and with fascist business oligarchs. I’d like to understand what is problematic with Mozilla, I’d appreciate any hint link or explanation 🙏
This fucking Free Our Feeds bullshit is basically trying to do for Bluesky what Mozilla does for Google.
And guess what, there’s Mozilla’s executive director and president on as custodians alongside two guys from AI companies and the executive director of Meta partner Social Web Foundation.
I’m so bloody sick and tired of bloody Silicon Valley asshats sucking all the oxygen out of the room with their bullshit and I truly hope the folks roped into legitimising it realise this and distance themselves as quickly as possible (you know who you are).
TED is one of the biggest enablers of this "AGI" scam, and one of the biggest ways to circle more money amongst more white dudes. Period.
Why not do an "interview" with the myriads of traumatized, exploited workers and those protesting genocide to discuss "safety"?
Those are not from populations TED is interested in. They don't fit the bill of "a scientist" or "innovator." There are only certain things that Black people are supposed to talk about in front of white saviors.
Hold onto you hats. This is going to be a great week for the Fediverse.
For years now to most people, the Fediverse has meant Mastodon. The fact there are thousands of Mastodon servers that all talk to each other is kind of a mind blower, but we've figured it out.
This week, thanks to Meta, people are discovering Pixelfed, another Fediverse app that likewise is deployed on many different servers that all talk to each other.
I know this feels like an invitation to debate, but I promise you it's not. I'm tired, and will be muting people on this.
This is not an invitation to debate. It's just another futile attempt to try to get people to see what Biden looks like from the perspective of someone who lives on the other side of his criminal justice policies.🙋🏿♂️
It's not "👴🏻Black men don't know all the good that Biden did like I know it! He rescued the economy! Why don't they get that? I know more about his policies than they do!"
It's "👴🏻I don't know the horrific scale of what Biden policies have done. I don't know anyone that has had their life savings stolen by asset forfeiture, or who has been shot by police, or who is innocent and in jail at the moment. These things aren't real to me."
It doesn't matter whether you agree or disagree with Black men who are disappointed in Biden. But you should at least *understand* why. You should at least know the *specific policies* that Black voters are upset at.
Because as I said before, Dems cannot win an election without the Black voting block. For any Dem candidate: If you do not create sufficient distance from these Biden policies, you will lose.
"Former #USA diplomat Hala Rharrit said she documented images coming out of #Gaza for the State Department – “I would show the complicity that was indisputable, fragments of U.S. bombs next to massacres of mostly children ... it's overwhelmingly children. I would show images of children that were starved to death. I was berated, don't put that image in there." Three months into the war Rharrit was told her reports were no longer needed.”
Top five countries in #Africa with the highest quality of life:
1. South Africa 2. Tunisia 3. Morocco 4. Kenya 5. Egypt
This is according to Business insyder Daily, If #Kenya is top five, I wonder what the quality of lives are in other African countries, Especially in the last four years. Must be alarming.
Someone accused me of bias this morning. Specifically, bias against MAGA and Trump supporters. Apparently it's disappointing to discover that I'm not the morally neutral arbiter of truth they imagined me to be.
So let's talk about it. Let's talk about my neutrality. A thread. 🧵
@paninid@dannotdaniel@RIJim And a lot of homeless will be put in the middle of the desert. Like Native Americans on the rez. Like Japanese-Americans during WWII. Isolated. Left to die.
Newsome is such a fucking hack. Why did hydrants dry up? Well, when hundreds of people turn their sprinklers and hoses on at once, while every hydrant in an area is running full blast, and homes are burning up leaving open water connections, pressure is gonna be a problem. Pretty hard to build a system that withstands that.
It's actually wild how different my comment sections are on Instagram and TikTok compared to my partners, his are happy and fun and mine are just toxic and alt right leaning
I think it's important that we don't overuse algos to encourage these harmful/toxic bubbles of reinforced hate or the like.
I am organizing a Pixelfed Algorithm Oversight Committee to help ensure we use For You algos in a healthy and sustainable way, with the ability to make changes based on your feedback!
A chronic problem with nonprofits and advocacy orgs is that they can become so hyper-focused on the world as viewed through the narrow lens of their mission — noble though the mission may be — that they start to lose context, perspective, and common sense. And then they start doing stupid carp, stepping on fingers and walking into walls.
#climateDiary I take it back. The fires are catastrophic, for so many people it’s far beyond “almost normal”. My sister just told me about a friend who has lost everything for the second time (her first house burned in another California wildfire). Thinking of everyone going through this now.
