My timeline just had 7 Trans #MutualAid posts in a row and it sucks so bad. I hate that Trans people have to suffer so damn much. Fucking shitty ass society. I wish I was rich enough to be a patron. I'd find Trans people and be like "what do you do" they'd say "mostly I play Final Fantasy" and I'd be like "great, this is your room. Breakfast starts at 8. Here's your stipend."
Here's your #juneteenth reminder that slavery is still legal in the United States and codified in the 13th, and while all y'all white people are up in your happy neoliberal vacation feels, the vast majority of people incarcerated in a for-profit system of so-called justice are Black and brown not only due to continued institutional racism but also an FBI documented infiltration of police forces by white suprematists and a GOP goal of running the courts but y'all have a nice day off taking a hike and drinking a latte.
There are various people in this town that treated me like a leper in a bible story when I came out. Like straight up embarrass themselves trying to avoid me.
Recently, a number of those people have been nice to me and some downright engaging. I've been wondering why. Then, one said to me "It seems like it was rough on you for a bit. You look so womanly now!" and it clicked.
Nothing says "we'll never really support Trans people" like a cis person avoiding you until you fit a cishet patriarchal definition.
Fascism (fas·cism): A political philosophy, movement, or regime defined as observing the normal treatment of Black and brown people and then applying that treatment to white people.
White people complaining about Black and other POC people not voting shows how they can really lean into the implicit racism of the neoliberal system.
As if the corporeal state didn't happen under Democratic guidance. As if Roe v Wade wasn't over-turned under a Democratic president. 6 different times here, white people have pointed to Columbia university and said shit like "avoiding this kind of police state is why we need to vote democrat" as if the sitting president is not Democratic.
And then they'll say "it could be worse if you don't vote." When they have zero understanding of what "worse" means. When they know nothing of the neoliberal acceptance of the GOP big plan.
And when they have decided to ignore the fact that BIPOC and AAPI peoples have been living "worse" for generations.
Telling POC people to save their asses yet fucking again. Bitch don't get all moral high ground about voting just because the barrel is finally pointing at you. This shit is called "Tuesday."
Then a a 65 year old woman from church was lamenting her loss of strength and how she wasn't young and she was so beautiful and I thought "god I wish I was you."
And at that point I was like "shit… what's THAT all about."
A couple months later, I saw an article in…Vanity Fair? About some women transitioning in their 60s and one said "I knew I'd never be beautiful, but I also knew I didn't want to die as an old man."
I was pretty hell bent already, life was falling apart. I couldn't come back from COVID because being home with the kids all day was too amazing. I knew I wanted to be a mom and couldn't because…well, I'm a man. There were a lot of things pushing me but I knew I had to suck it up and just be a good dad.
Then one day, a group of the men from my church approached me and said they wanted me to join them for coffee on Saturday, which they do every week, calling it The Old Men Coffee Club.
I almost vomited.
I was forced to be a man, but I didn't want to be… that. Just picturing being in a group of old men made me sick to my stomach.
@tillshadeisgone oh you mean "super predators" Hillary? You mean carceral state Hillary? Yes, she would have been all the difference to pregnant mothers.
*points to Black women's access to health care including abortion services, Black women's maternity health, and Black child infant mortality rates, all of which see no difference in presidential turnover.
@bri_seven@clacke I guess I should have realized that on the internet, a bunch of threads on gender envy for Deanna Troi's looks would get into deep Star Trek meaning.
Seriously, you can take me off this thread. I'm not a deep cuts fan and just watch it for fun. I have clear memory of a single episode with her where her role was to be insufferable to her daughter. I was making a joke. I'm just looking at Deanna's clothes. Really.
@clacke@bri_seven for the record, I've never watched more than a few episodes of DS9, and only know Lwaxana from the few TNG episodes where she was overbearing and insufferable. There's no discourse.
Black autistic train wreck of the manic pixie chaos demon variety. Desperately sapphic and depressingly touch-starved. Constantly walks into the cocktail party naked in heels because my sense of boundaries is entirely fucking broken. My posts auto-delete after a while for the safety of humanity. You might consider interacting a bit before requesting a follow or I'll probably ignore it. If you're a man I will probably ignore your follow request unless we've interacted enough because I get too many freaks all up in my face and if you don't think that's a problem for you then that's exactly why I chose the bear.
