@jae @phnt @lanodan I’ve had the same Brother monochrome laser printer for 15 years now and haven’t had a single problem. I’ve heard their quality has gone down a bit in recent years though. -

@lanodan @phnt I wouldn’t touch a router that doesn’t have openWRT support these days. Alpine for a home router? That’s interesting. -

@phnt @lanodan I kind of want to start throwing cable modems into the running for worst devices but I’m not sure how much of that is on the manufacturers or on the ISPs that never send out firmware updates -

@RustyCrab @nyanide my M4 MacBook Air and my M2 Mac mini are the best computers I’ve owned. I of course wouldn’t recommend them if you have no interest or use for a Mac though. -

@nyanide I’d say at least get a 2019 or 2020 one of last intel ones released -

@nyanide that’s one benefit. if you’re going to run macOS I think they’ll be getting security updates for a while depending on how old you go -

@nyanide you’d get at least 7 years minimum of software updates. don’t bother with a used intel one because they’ll be dropped in the next couple macOS updates -
